Transfers are not grouping

Has anyone experienced issues when transfering multiple episodes of one show from one tivo (540) to another tivo (240) where on the originating Tivo the shows are all grouped by Show name and are listed in that folder. When they get transfered to the second Tivo they don't group into a folder, just list under Now Playing with the shows name for each one.

I started transfering 16 episodes of Kyle XY from one of our tivos to the other last night. Got home from work and looked and saw that most are transfered over, I think 1 or 2 still needs to transfer. But they are all listed in Now Playing instead of in a Kyle XY folder. Sort of messy and frustrating. I haven't had this problem before.

In order for them to group, you need to have a season pass for the show on the destination TiVo.
I don't think you need an SP, the show just needs to be in the Guide data.

Does Kyle XY appear in the Guide data of the target TiVo?
Hmm. No it does not appear in the guide data. I didn't think that was part of the criteria for grouping like shows together. I do see how it has some logic though.

Have you experienced this before? Now I'm curious if it will automatically group them once Kyle XY starts playing on a channel again...

Thanks for the suggestion.
Yeah, so that's why. The software uses the episode ID of each show to group, but if it's not in the Guide data you'll see exactly what you are seeing. As soon as the show appears in the Guide again the recordings will group.
I've posted a similar question somewhere else here but is there any way to group transferred videos? I have transcoded and copied over an entire season of Avatar but they come up as separate shows and I can see no way of grouping them. I would also really like to add show information, etc to the files I fear that this may not be possible...
Nope ... shows won't group unless a) they are .tivo files with the proper episode information in the header and b) the show appears in the Guide data on the TiVo.

So any transcoded video you are sending back to your TiVo won't group.

Thanks for the reply now my next logical question is... how can I make my mpg files into .tivo files and include/create proper header info? Is it possible?
Not to my knowledge, though I think some people are working on it. There's TiVoAttach, which lets you re-attach a .tivo file header to an edited .mpg that might work for you.

TiVo.Net lets you specify program information so that when the file is transferred back to the TiVo the Program Details screen has information, but that won't make it group.

I politely disagree. I transferred a few older Nip/Tuck episodes that we hadn't seen to another Tivo (had a season pass on the receiving Tivo). They showed up ungrouped. At the time of the transfer, Nip/Tuck wasn't being shown.

It is now, via reruns, back on the air. The "new" Nip/Tuck episodes are all grouped as they should. The transferred episodes are still ungrouped...

Go figure.
