I have a Series 3 box and want to install a larger replacement drive. The old hard drive has all my Season Passes & recording history. I have tried connecting the old hard drive to an Ubuntu Linex box but I have not been able to mount the drive. I suspect permission issues. How can I transfer the Season Passes and recording history to the new drive?

By copying the whole drive.

You need to use a special Linux that can recognize TiVo drives, which are undetectable under normal PC oses.

I'm not wanting to copy the whole drive. The old drive has problems that started when TiVo loaded version 9.1 of the OS. I have purchased InstantCake from DVRupgrade and have the new HD installed and running on the Series 3 TiVo. I was looking for a way to install both the old & new HD's into my Linux box and simply transfer the Season Pass and recording history files.

You have to copy the whole drive. The database that contains the Season passes has likely been re-organized for 9.1. Individual elements of that database are unavailable, at least to novices (IOW, Deep hacking required).

Otherwise manually re-enter them.
