I have the Tivo Premier XL with 150 HD hours with 2 tuners model number TCD74800. I have a TiVo Premiere XL4 model TCD75825 that has 4 tuners and has 300 HD hours space coming in next week. Is there anyway to transfer the shows that are on the TCD74800 onto the new TCD75825?

If they are on the same network, then you will see the boxes on your My Shows at the bottom. Or it can be done with TiVo Online. Copy Protected shows can not be transferred.

As long as both boxes have Tivo service and on your tivo.com account, with transfer/sharing enabled under DVR preferences.

The old one will be disconnected from Tivo so I can start the new unit. I only have one cable card. Both have lifetime though. I will not lose much sleep if I can't do it. It is just tv shows and movies from HBO and Showtime.

HBO and showtime most likely is copy-protected.

What if they are on the same network but not on the same Tivo account? My roommate has a Tivo Edge and I have a Roamio OTA. We would like to move some shows from my Tivo to his. Could we just connect them by a cable of some sort?

They would each have a different Media Access Key (different Tivo accounts) and cannot share between them. Sharing also requires the network connections (internal and external to Tivo)

Its possible to share even if its on different accounts, and you would need to download to computer, decrypt (removes the MAK and makes it a regular video file) and then send from that Tivo. The drawback is if the Roamio or Bolt is running v21 of software, which disables these transfers.

Most likely is if there is a VOX feature and that requires v21 (Hydra, TE4).

Would Plex perhaps be a tool that would get the desired end results?
