That was one really quick hour.

I gather they live, but they don't seem to be healing from trauma, right?

They're not healing faster than normal, like Jack could, but it is possible they're healing at a normal rate. As long as they stay in bed and not fly across the Atlantic, anyways.

I'm liking the cast this season. I didn't particularly like any of the characters from the earlier seasons except Jack and Gwen, so they kept the right ones. Oh wait, bring back Captain John Hart.
Since spoilers aren't mentioned in the title I'll spoilerize my comment since it plays into previous knowledge of the Jack character:

It's odd that Jack is not healing/regenerating like he normally does. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.
Wow I liked that quite a lot. Luckily Directv gave me 6 months of free Starz a couple weeks ago!
Is it just me or in the first few scenes John Barrowman was in, was he wearing waaaay too much lipstick?
That was a fun hour of television; I'm glad TW is back and I'm liking the cast and the direction the season is going. I was surprised so little of Jack's circumstances and backstory were mentioned.

No spoiler tags are necessary to discuss anything leading up to the current episode. A date in the thread title implies this. For all intents and purposes, this is just a new season of an existing series.

I felt the pacing was kind of slow. At least it's a 10 episode season, but the whole thing felt like a very drawn out introduction.

The Oswald Danes thing was completely ridiculous. You don't just release an immortal pedophile overnight like that. You 'accidentally' drop him into a pool of acid and see what happens. I suppose now any vigilante on the outside can try that and not be charged with anything, since he's 'dead' (his basis of getting out).

Or you get creative and sever all of his extremeties, so he can't do anyone any more harm. And I do mean _all_ of them.

* SPOILER *
I think they made it 100% clear that Jack normally heals from injuries, and the lack of healing is troublesome. Not something to be spoilerized, in other words.
While I would understand from a logistics perspective for future shows, I'll be sort of bummed out if this entire series is used as a device to remove Jack's immortality.

Could turn him into The Joker. Then TW would have a cool nemesis. They need a new Torchmobile, though.

That's an interesting scenario; I bet we'll see something like that play out at some point this season.
I thought, for a second, someone was going to torch the car when Danes was set free, and he'd be some kind of disfigured monster for the rest of the season.

I've been ignoring spoilers and previews, so I don't know if they intend to draw this part of the story out for the whole season.
I love Gwen Cooper. Hope her husband has to stay home with the baby for the rest of the series, though.

The head severing scene had me peeping through my fingers. I don't think there will be any more suicide bombers during the Miracle once they learn what their fate would be.

Nah it's just a plot device for him to get really beat up and disfigured by the end of the series then once they fox what's going on he'll heal right up.

Given what we know from Dr. Who, I doubt this.

It looks to me like every humanoid on the planet has been set to a "can't die, heals at a normal rate" status quo. All this has done with Jack is removed his regeneration ability, not necessarily his immortality.

If you walked into this series last night with very little exposure to DW or TW I don't think it was 100% clear. The only scene that verbalized it was the "wink wink, nudge nudge" between Gwen and Jack.

Right but given that this is "Season 4, Ep 1" I think all information is free game.

Except this time it's on Starz, so there's a good chance people who never caught it on BBCA are getting their first exposure.
Decent enough first hour, although I'm a little surprised by the mix of special effects, with a mix of "elaborate" and "Doctor Who Cheesy"
I've never been exposed to this show before. I liked S4E1 and didn't feel I was missing anything from not having seen it before. They seemed to drop just enough info from the past that I do not have any questions about what happened before and I feel they'll reveal what they need if its important.
