I must say they really ramped up the excitement fast. This is gonna be an awesome season, I think! Loved how they got rid of Gwen's husband. Loved the "gay" flight attendant. Loved the "I'm from Wales" comment. Loved the SUV vs Mini comment.

On the downside I think the bad-guys-in-the-CIA aspect is a bit corny.

Gwen was so chock full of Kick Ass. LOVED it. Oh and Dichen Lachman with her head on backwards?? CREEPY.
"That was my best tie!"
"You're definitely not gay."
"It was only one time!"

That and the looks on Jack and Gwen's faces in the back of the Mini had me busting out laughing.

That whole poison cure scene on the airplane sure dragged on though. Looks like they needed to fill the episode, which wouldn't bode well for the season.

Oh, and... Newman!

I'd say silly rather than creepy. Why on Earth wouldn't she just turn her head around?!?

Really enjoying it, though. Our little CIA analyst is getting a world-class lesson in being careful what you wish for. "Welcome to Torchwood," indeed! :D
I would like this more if they'd stop with the waaaaaay over the top evil CIA agents. I hope that's the last we see of Dichen Lachman's character.

What is Rex's relationship with Dr. Juarez? They seem to be a lot more chummy than a one time doctor-patient relationship would allow.

Thank God they dumped Rhys.
One thing I think the show is doing a pretty good job of, so far, is addressing the real-world questions and issues that would arise if something as crazy as "Miracle Day" were to really happen. Things like: (1) But what about apoptosis -- between 50 and 70 billion cells die each day due to apoptosis in the average human adult, replaced by new cells. With Miracle Day, are people going to be accumulating more and more living cells with none of the old dying? (The Panel answer: nope, doesn't seem to be an issue). (2) Just humans, or all animals? (Just humans). (3) What happens with things like deadly bacteria, where mortality imposes a natural limit to their spread? (e.g. the most deadly contagions are self-containing, because they kill off their hosts too quickly to propagate far). What if the hosts stop dying? Answer: we're going to need more antibiotics! (4) What will this mean in terms of population growth, if death is removed from the equation? (5) How are bodies still functioning when necessary body systems are obliterated? (6) How does something like this impact triage? (Do everything backwards, and treat the minor injuries first to get them out of the way -- the major ones can wait!)

I love that the show is exploring these types of questions, even if only peripherally in some cases.

I'll give it a passing grade but one thing really did stand out..
In Ep01 they made a huge deal about Rex not being healed and in pain, they had him strained walking, etc, this episode? just a passing scene or two, he moved more fluid as if nothing was wrong 90% of the time.
(3) What happens with things like viruses and bacteria, where mortality imposes a natural limit to virulence? (e.g. the most deadly contagions are self-containing, because they kill off their hosts too quickly to propagate far). What if the hosts stop dying? Answer: we're going to need more antibiotics! (4) What will this mean in terms of population growth, if death is removed from the equation? (5) How are bodies still functioning when necessary body systems are obliterated? [/QUOTE]

If that were to happen in real life, would that be the Singularity?
2 actors on here who jumped ship from All my Children before it dies--Esther and gay steward guy. Plus Newman, Sierra, and the doctor from Er. That Never happens on British Torchwood. I never recognized anyone. Not sure if it's a good or bad thing. ;)

I thought this ep was way better than the first one. Agree on addressing all the ramifications of the "miracle." Makes you think.

I thought the episode was pretty good, but I agree the poison cure scene lasted way too long.

RTD really needs someone to help him out with anything United States related. "Washington D.C. City Hall"?
I'm really enjoying the show but that whole making a antidote for poison scene was like it was taken from a tossed away MacGyver script. Or even a Royal Pains script. I just rolled my eyes when he was instantly cured after getting the injection.

I was glad to see Dichen Lachman when she appeared but sad to see her go so soon. I loved her on Dollhouse.

I said the same thing when he snapped her neck - but then again - who said she is gone?

Loving Lauren Ambrose in this episode since I couldn't stand her on Six Feet Under.

I am LOVING this season so far.
They need more help than Washington DC City Hall. Did anyone notice the constant view of a flag? It was the State Flag of Colorado. The hall should have had all the flags of the states or none. Colorado? At least use a pretty state flag, New Mexico, Maryland, Arizona, Hawaii come to instant mind.
I'm not so sure about that episode.
Little things bothered me. I am pretty sure that one capsule of arsenic isn't enough to kill someone. Also I would think they would use something faster like cyanide. Also since when can a cell phone reach a tower while over the mid Atlantic?

they were using the phone in the airplane seatback, I noticed that (my goldfish memory was in OFF mode)
What the hell?? Did I miss something? Was there a new Torchwood or is there a new season starting. I can't find anything on it anywhere.
