Tivo Desktop has stopped working for me as well, which is why I moved on to PyTivo. With PyTivo, I get 4 separate folders as opposed to Desktop's 1 folder appearing on my Tivos. Plus, I get the push function, as well as other file types from .avi to .mkv, .mp4, on Desktop, Iwould need the paid plus version.
Tivo Won't See PC (many, many errors)
Okay, this might be lengthy, as I've been on the phone with Tivo for the last couple of hours, but here goes (and please note that I've actually done all the things suggested in similar threads).
My Tivo HD no longer sees my desktop computer -- sees my laptop and my wife's laptop just fine, but not my desktop. It used to, mind you, but would disappear every once in a while. Now it's been gone for weeks.
The Tivo server was offline. When I tried to restart it, I got "An error has occurred." Red circle with a white X in it. That's it.
No luck with support. Eventually, the guy decides I should try to use Tivo Beacon instead of Bonjour, even though I have the most current Bonjour. I somehow manage to get into the Server Properties (it's only happened once and I've been trying all day) and change it to use Beacon. I go into Services to start Beacon...Error: 1359.
At this point, support decided it was a Windows issue and I should contact Microsoft. The problem is that my laptop is more or less the same as my desktop, and it runs fine, so I don't think it's a Windows issue.
I made all the adjustments to my ports that I read elsewhere on here, but I have no idea if that's fixed anything as I can't get anything to start, because I still get the "Beacon Service is not running" message, and I can't turn it on because I get the Error: 1359 message.
What's particularly frustrating about this is that I feel like switching to Beacon has just made this worse, and perhaps the port fix might have solved my original problem.
Any ideas?

Run regedit and drill down to the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\TiVo\Desktop" key. Change the DiscoveryService entry from Beacon to Bonjour, then reboot.
Error 1359 doesn't help much (it just means INTERNAL_ERROR), but there have been several causes in the past. One cause was an Outlook addin named Xobni that created a corrupt entry in the Uninstall section of the registry. Another cause was having Galleon running before starting Beacon. The most common cause is a corrupt installation of Desktop. Tivo has a "cleaner" that you can run after uninstalling Desktop to make sure that everything from previous installs is gon before reinstalling.

I've had similar problems that were weird like this with mine as well. It was either the TiVo can't see my computer, or the other way around so you know the "connection" is OK, but something weird is happening. Like @ TiVo, I can see shared folders, but I can't PING it from the desktop. Both wireless AND wired had these issues.
For now at least, it's been working for while so I don't touch it. But I still have no idea what ultimately got it to work. But here's some of the things I can remember that "might" help.
Reset Tivo.

check firewall.
Reinstall TD.
Hard code IP adresses.
Reset router.
Change name of of TiVo at TiVo website.

If I notice the computer icon missing from the NPL, I can go to my computer and sure enough, the TiVo Server has stopped running.

If the TiVo sees your laptops, either it's the firewall on your desktop blocking the Bonjour broadcast packets on UDP port 5353, or the TiVo and laptops are wireless and you have your wired and wireless networks set up differently.Thanks! You can try adding the IP address of your desktop manually. That option is at the bottom of Music, Photos & Showcases.
What brand network interface card is it? If it's a RealTek NIC that might be your problem. Use 'devmgmt.msc' (the device manager) to bring up a list of the hardware and see what brand network card it is. I've had consistently bad luck with Realtek based NICs when it comes to multicast traffic like that used by Tivo and iTunes.

I shut down my remaining PC external hard drive and removed the link in Tivo Desktop 2 days ago.Maybe I need to remove the other links one by one and see if it makes a difference.

Perhaps it's just the fact that you have on board dedicated network hardware, but it's not specifically the "Intel" brand? Um, no. The Revolution model specifically has Intel NIC chipsets. And no again, CPU is not the problem. Put in a Realtek NIC card and have multicast problems. Remove card and put in an Intel and have no multicast problems. I've done just that. Fortunately Intel NICs are reasonably priced.I have the Asus P8P67 Rev 3.0. It's apparently defects within Realtek's gear that prevents to it being able to handle multicast traffic properly. It seems multicast is poorly understood by the company, and since not enough things make effective use of it they don't seem to care about fixing it.
