I have had TIVO for many years [no idea really - at least 10].

I have the Philips DSR6000 with/for DirecTV.

I have version 3.5b-01-1-001.

Is this the latest version and should this system update automatically?

Thanks for your feedback. :)

The OP said they have had TIVO for at least Ten Years, not the DSR6000 unit.

This is not a stretch as greg_burns has pointed out.

The DSR6000 has the most current version of Software installed. The System will update automatically, but Directv is no longer putting out Software Updates for the DSR unit.

Just having some fun. Whatever Tivo he was referring to he couldn't have gotten before '99. So saying at least 10 years is a stretch in my book. But enough nit pickin.

They said they've had TiVo for at least ten years, and the point is that the first DirecTiVo didn't come out that far back, the first one being the 6000, which came out SEVEN years ago.

Hello?

So, what did ANY TiVo look like in 1997?

It does appear that we may be in need of some nit shampoo. If anyone has some they could spare it would be greatly appreciated :D

Hello...... ?Did the phone ring.... or did the lights go off in your mind? :D

Tivo has been around since 1997, which would make it Ten Years in 2007 would it not?

TiVo, Inc. was incorporated on August 4, 1997 as "Teleworld, Inc."

Maybe the OP started off with a Tivo unit using Directv, then switched to the DSR6000 when it came out in late 2000. Maybe just maybe thats the point :D

But anyways, the Nits are beginning to itch again. Time to try and find some more shampoo.

While the business inc. may have been around, there were no DVR's to be had from them then.

If you read the history you'll see that TiVo was incorporated to make a home networking device, not a DVR.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TiVo#History
Teleworld began the first public trials of the TiVo device and service in late 1998 in the San Francisco Bay area.[1] After exhibiting at the Consumer Electronics Show in January 1999, Mike Ramsay announced to the company that the first version of the TiVo digital video recorder would ship on March 31, 1999, despite an estimated four to five months of work remaining to complete the device. Because March 31, 1999 was a Blue Moon, the engineering staff code named this first version of the TiVo DVR "Blue Moon."
So the idea that this person has been using TiVo for the last 10yrs is a little off, don't you think?

The only thing he could have been recording with was a VCR - the first TiVo didn't ship until the middle on 1999

they made that March 31st Blue Moon date as well despite the mountain of work they had to get done. To this day TiVo celebrates a Blue Moon day where the doors are locked and no one is to work to celebrate meeting that first all important deadline.

Great products ever since, but just for 7 years max.

Would that be the Steve Jobs Reality Distortion Field? ;)

It seems to affect a lot of us!
:D LOL.

Just a side note: rajdynel: Love the Avatar. But you are not allowed an animated one. You will be frowned upon and thrown deep into the darkness of Tivo Hell because of it :D

But if they has waited until April First, then they would of missed the Blue Moon and the Secret Doings that happen behind Closed Doors on that Day.

So, do Tivo Employees strip naked and do the sacred Moon Dances on that Day :D
