TiVo Using a lot of bandwidth

So I caught my TiVo using 1.2GB of bandwidth this morning downloading something from Akamai. Any ideas what it would be downloading that's so large?

I guess that would really add up for someone with multiple TiVos and an internet provider with bandwidth caps.
Wonder if they are going to have another star where you can preview one of the new pilots before it airs.
Could a software upgrade be that large?

1.2BG is not a measure of bandwidth. It's a measure of usage. The absolute maximum a TiVo can utilize using the Ethernet port is 200 Mbps.

It has to be a video.

No, not by a long shot. The total active file system area on a stock TiVo, including both / and /var, is only 512 MB. The kernel is about 2M. My S3s are using a total of around 152M and the THD is using about 198M.
1.2GB is about 15 minutes of medium res video.
Usually the previews aren't in HD.

Depends on the network. The ones I've looked at were in HD. Although I wouldn't consider looking at any preview unless it was in HD anyway.

If they want me to consider watching it, they better at least offer it in HD. It's 2012. I started watching and recording HD content in 2001. All the new content should be available in HD now.
Just noticed the Morning Joe promo...wonder if that was it. If it was 1.2gb x 3 for my HD Tivo's I will find that somewhat annoying if it starts becoming a regular occurance. I get 250gb/month with Comcast and usually have 70gb or so left each month but if Comcast ever frees up HBO GO on the Roku I could be scrambling for every bit I get...
With bandwidth caps, TiVo will need to be more up front about what it's downloading and allowing people to disable these promo downloads. Do they still do the infomercial like they did back in the day with the Series 1?

Yes. It's called Teleworld paid program. Do a "search by title" on your Tivo to see when it airs.
