Tivo Up Time

Recently I ran across a post where someone said that you could tell if your Tivo has reset by checking the "Tivo up time" (or words to that effect). I figured it would be on the System Staus pages but I can't find anything that indicates how long the Tivo has been up since its last reset. Is there such an indicator and is it on all series of Tivos?

Was it me? :p
Try looking under Account & System Information / DVR Diagnostics*.
Page down to the last page and look for the line 'Time Since OOB Tune Start'. This will give you an approximate time since the last reboot in seconds. You will have to calculate the hours/days/weeks from that.

*This is how you find it with the TivoHD, I think the Premiere is similar.

ETA:
AFAIK, this is only for Series 3 and above. I have found no such settings on my S2 ST.

Thanks. I see it on my HD unit but nothing like it on my Series2 DT unit. Maybe the only way to tell on earlier units is if the 30-second skip no longer works.

Another way to tell if the Tivo has reset is using the onscreen clock. I routinely display the clock on the screen (SPS9S) and if that goes away, the Tivo has reset.

I believe there are some other things that don't survive a reset such as the 30 sec. skip on some models.
There's a regular uptime display that appears in System Info when backdoors are enabled. Enabling backdoors is left as an exercise for the reader. ;) (In truth I haven't done it since I left the DirecTivo world.)
I found the post I was referring to and PM'ed the user. He said that it shows up on one of the System Info pages but that he is using hacked SW. As for checking DVR Diagnostics on my HD unit, it just seems to hang on the "Please Wait" page. I wonder if this is something that gets messed up if you upgrade your drive (like losing the external drive capability). My HD was purchased used and already had an upgrade to a 1 TB drive.
Later found out that there is a thread bemoaning the "DVR Diagnostics" hangup issue. Unplugged my unit and then I could do the diagnostics. Couldn't find any explanation as to why Tivos often hang on that page.

I have an upgraded 2TB drive in my HD, and the diagnostic screen comes right up.

I recall seeing that thread, didn't really pay attention since it never applied to me.
I wonder why some Tivos hang while others don't? Hmm...
Just curious, you said you have a S2 DT so that would be the same as I have. Where during these instructions does your unit stop?

"messages and settings ==> Account and system information ==> System information. On mine I page down 3 screens and there is a field called "uptime".

I was thinking of putting the unhacked drive back in since I have a bunch of episodes of Coach I wanted to get so will look to see how it's menu looks.

I go the same steps, with three pages of information - just no "time up" counter on any of the pages.
Another clue your TiVo has rebooted is whether it remembers what item you last visited on menus or defaults to the top item the first time you enter a particular menu. (Of course you have to remember something for this to mean anything. ;))

In 2.5 years my TiVo HD has never hung or rebooted in DVR Diagnostics.
