Can someone point me to a summary of the easiest way to move shows from TiVo onto the iPod Touch? I've been stuck w/ a 3G 20 gb iPod for a long time. Now that my wife has given me the iPod Touch (16 gb) for my birthday, I'm suddenly interested in video on my iPod. I also have a Palm LifeDrive, so I've tinkered a bit with conversion, but haven't recently or extensively. As such, if anyone can point me to an article, thread or other tutorial on the best way to migrate from the TiVo Desktop to iPod Touch, I'd be much appreciative.

The easiest way, on a PC, is with TiVo Desktop 2.5 Plus. A couple clicks and the recording is queued up to transfer from the TiVo, convert to iPod format, and automatically load into iTunes.

How do you get it to do this? I've always had to load the recordings into iTunes manually after the TiVo desktop has done the conversion.

What do you need to do to have the converted files load into iTunes?

I have 2.5 and it automatically transfers my programs from my TiVo and converts them. They don't, however, appear in itunes without loading them into the library manually.

Choose iPod format in the Convert To format menu.
Cool, thanks. I have been using the H264 setting and it kept that when I upgraded to 2.5. I didn't realize they had added an "Apple iPod" option.

This gives you 320x240 resolution output, which is OK for the classic ipod or new nano. It would be nice to have a conversion option to output 480x360 resolution (or 416x312) to take full advantage of the higher resolution screen.

Once downloaded from TiVo, I run it through a VideoReDo Ad detective scan and save it to Mpeg. Then I run Videora IPod Converter (Freeware) to convert it and can save it in Itunes for synching. I use an IPod Classic.

I have to admit, I have not kept up with the latest TiVo Desktop updates. Still waiting on TTG for the THD.

The profiles are kept in that tivotrans.dll file (I think), and though I haven't tried it, you can use Microsoft VS2005, or a resource editor like XN Resource Editor (google it) to modify the profiles in the dll to give you options for other resolutions. Once again, I haven't tried it but I have seen some people over at megazone that said it worked.
