FYI

I coundn't connect from my computer to my tivo, even though they both connected to the tivo sight.

It ended up being that my linksys router made 2 different ip addresses, 1 for wired, 1 for wireless. after i put a wireless to my computer they worked fine.\

Sounds like maybe the two different IP addresess you refer to were on different subnets ... and TiVoDesktop won't work across different subnets like that.
