Tivo sounds like morse code

We have a DirectTv receiver with Tivo in our bedroom (DVR R10). After we go to bed that Tivo starts to access the disk drive even though I put it in 'stand by'. With that 'Disk accessing' is sounds like morse code and is keeping us up at night. (It's annoying!!) :(

The only solution so far is to yank out the power cord in frustration and then it's compleatly quiet (Silence at last :) ) . The only problem is that it takes 5 mins or so in the morning to get our DirecTv service going again.

How is it possible to get Tivo to become compleatly quiet at night when we are trying to sleep? Why is that disk drive so active when it's in stand by mode?? --Greg--

Because standby really means nothing. Your only two solutions are to replace the hard drive in the unit with a quieter one or invest in one of those electronic noise makers designed to mask such sounds for those trying to sleep. Also a fan works nicely for this purpose.
Well, you could also put the tivo in another room. It's always going to be accessing the disk, because it's always recording. If you keep yanking the plug, how is it going to record your programs overnight?
