I have a S2D2 less than a year old with an upgraded drive. It records and plays back fine, however when I turn on my HD monitor there is no video signal until I hit the TiVo button on the remote. Has TiVo sent some type of software update that times out the video signal?

S2D2 - is that anything like the R2D2?
I believe you mean S2 DT.

TiVo has started the preliminary rollout of an update. Check your system information screen. If it says that you have version 8.3 then you haven't gotten any update. If it's higher than 8.3, you have the latest update, but I don't know what all the changes are.

What kind of remote are you using? Maybe something is putting the box into Standby mode? How is the DT box connected to the monitor?
The DT is connected via RCA cables. I am using a Harmony remote, so your idea of the unit being put into standby might have merit. Logitech may have changed the way it handles TiVo's. Such as throwing into standby since it can't turn the TiVo off. I did recently update my Harmony software....

That's unlikely because there is no direct to standby option/feature.

Are you turning the monitor on separately from everything else? Is it possible that you turn on the monitor (just the monitor) and it's not on the correct input for the Tivo and then you press the button labeled Tivo on the harmony which is actually an activity button that doesn't bring the tivo to tivo central as tivo button on a peanut remote would, but rather sets up your system to watch Tivo by turning on the a/v receiver and TV and putting the TV on the proper input?

Yeah, double check the TiVo in the Harmony software. Make sure it's set to "always leave this device on" otherwise when you use the Off on your Harmony it will turn off all the other devices (receiver, TV, etc.) and put the TiVo into Standby.
