This problem is for a TIVO Series 2:

I have tried all of the listed codes for my Toshiba 30" TV. One of them will allow me to turn the TV on or off just fine, but no MUTE button.

A couple of others will allow me to use the MUTE button, but when you try to power on or off, it is like you are hitting the power button TWICE (if you started with the TV off, you end up with it off). I have been very careful to make sure that I am only pressing the power button once.

I have tried the auto-program routine, but get the same results.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are all of the TV remotes accounted for? There have been several cases of a stray remote stuck in the room behind a cushion which was making contact with some of the keys and interferring with a new TiVo setup.

I know this is old, but this is my exact issue. A few codes will turn the tv directly off, but then I get no volume controls. Other codes will give me volume, but then when I hit power off..the tv cuts off and back on immediately. I have to hit it 4-5 times to get it to stay off. I also have a flat screen Toshiba.

Make sure you are using the Newest codes for your television. Also, the Tivo unit may not have the proper codes for your TV Set.

My Tivo remote will not control my TV at all. But my Tv remote will control my Tivo unit.

Mind you, my New Tv has only just come out on the Market.

Why don't you just train each button manually from your original remote?
Only The S3 remote can learn codes.

edit:
by S3 remote I am referring to the "glow remote" that ships with the S3 at this time, but is also available from tivo.com for use with other TiVos.
