TiVo Pricing simplified

This is not good... I might have to look elsewhere after being a customer for over 10 years
this sets in stone that I will not be renewing after my contract is up, unless the Premier makes drastic improvements in just about every aspect. I'd rather be without DVR than reward Tivo for the Permier.
Lifetime TiVos across the board are $100 cheaper so I don't have a problem there. I learned my lesson back on the series 1 and 2 about paying monthly and won't do it again.

Not really sure we needed another thread on it though especially if you read Dave's post since he references the original threads.
That sucks on the lifetime increase. I wonder if we'll be able to talk them down and get lower prices the way you can now.
Thanks for this link. I have been getting the run around as a potential new customer and got 3 different answers. It would have been nice if they posted this new pricing was coming on their website.
That kind of stinks. I would have bought at the $99 and purchased the liftime if it was available at the time. They should let you convert to lifetime early since this is way better the what they offered just a few month ago. My plan was to pay $19.99 a month and then purchase the lifetime at the end of it. The way I figured it was going to cost $737.xx ($99+239+399) dolloars after a years time to have the box with lifetime when I purchased just 2 month ago. Now it seems you can get the box with lifetime for ($99+499) $598. That is a huge difference and I will be complaining not that it will get me anywhere but I like to complain to companies when they pull this stuff.
So what happens if you have a premiere box pre-$20/month promotion? Could I get lifetime for $300? I have one box I paid for a year's service and the other I'm paying MSD on at $9.95.

Lifetime is actually cheaper now by $100 per box than the previous pricing scheme.
I don’t get all the tivo service pricing complaints. If you want a dvr, most people either go with the cable company dvr(s) or tivo's with cablecards. The cable company is going to charge the same and most likely more, a month, for their dvr. You have to pay that as long as you have cable tv. Same with going the tivo route. ANd still, I have yet to see a cable dvr with integrated netflix, amazon, youtube, and blockbuster. Not to mention the sharing of recordings between tivo units, home networking shares, and the tivo's far superior guide system. What is it people want? The only "free" tv is going MCE and OTA antenna. Everything else, cable, tivo, satellite, is going to cost. It boils down to the features you gain from going one route compared to another. I've yet to see any cable dvr or satellite dvr come close to matching the tivo premiere when it comes to features. And naturally, this will cost something...
Also with the new pricing, the first two years are actually cheaper for people who use month to month.
What is the new pricing for the upgrade program? Has it changes too? I've already upgraded my two Series 2 boxes and therefore the current upgrade program is not available for me to view.

The current offers are the same as the MSD pricing which is $30 more expensive than the old offer $499.98 (old was $468) for a Tivo Premiere with Lifetime. Note that you should be able to buy a box at retail with the new pricing (Amazon does sell the box at a discount most of the time).
I don't know that I'd use the word simplified in regard to Tivo's subscription rates. Now there are two sets of sub rates, one set for the Premiere and another for everything else.
Interesting, so I setup two grandfathered premiers at the PIL in February.

Box 1 I setup at 129$ a year, box time got MSD and I bought lifetime for 299$, couldn’t do it on box one.

Now, the box 1 says, “pick a FUTURE plan” and it only shows the 19.99$ or 499$ lifetime. That doesn’t make sense, I figured at LEAST they would be able to continue with an annual at current rates,

Also, received ZERO, literally ZERO emails or correspondence from TIVO about pricing changes

(Davez seems to confirm that there is now no LONGER any annual, even for those people ON annual and it will go to 19.99$ when the current annual expires. LAME)

Wow, if they just changed the pricing on these boxes, current modern, 12.95$ legacy boxes with NO communication to the users and upping the pricing now nearly 100% (I had one on annual at 129$, which is now going to be minimum 240%) that is just VERY bad customer service and PR.

I don’t even think it is LEGAL to jack the pricing without proper communication to the customer (either via mail or direct contact, email does NOT count)

Call then. Someone else on here reported they were able to call in and lock in the yearly price.
I think Tivo continues your current pricing until you decide to change it without having to do anything. It isn't an option to change to for future plans because it is no longer offered. I bet if you call Tivo they will tell you it will renew at your current rate. There has been no indication from anyone yet that they have gone and changed the rates on them.
What determines the $12.95/$19.95 primary and $9.95/$14.95 MSD prices? On the three monthly subs I have, I'm offered $9.95 on the "Future plan" selection page, but on the TiVo I prepaid for the year on, I'm only offered the $14.95 MSD price?

Scheduling a future plan is for changing from the plan you are on to a different one when the current plan ends. If you don't want to change anything, don't change anything and you subscription automatically renews on the same plan that just ended.
