Tivo Premiere / Remove from deleted folder

Maybe these two items are related. I just got a new Tivo Premiere, so I'm learning the new features and remote functions.

When hit the Tivo button to go to the recordings page, there is a message on the screen that stays there and it overlaps my recordings. It makes reading either of them very difficult.

Because of the above I accidentally deleted something I wanted to save. Now I can't figure out how to remove it from the recently deleted folder.

What does this message say?

Go into the Recently Deleted folder and press Select on the recording. You'll have an option to "undelete" it there.

More accurately in Tivo's terms, "recover" the program
I can't do that (hit select in the deleted items folder). I get the "drum" sound. Select is not valid. I assume it is because this message is displayed over my current recorded programs screen, so I can't read either easily. It says something about the Download manger lists the broadband shows.........

I don't have internet access yet, would this cause this issue?

Sounds like a possibility, is it connected / subbed to the TiVo Service?
Can you get into the Settings > Displays screen and switch to the SDUI temporarily?

It's all activated and has current schedules and such. I'm switching cable providers, so I haven't had cable this week. But I did last week when I got the unit. I should have it again on Monday I'm hoping.

Switching back to the SDUI did get rid of the message overlay since they are different menus. Switching back had the message over the program list again. It's just an informative message stating that broadband access allows you to get programs online...........

I'll just switch to the other display mode till I see if getting internet back fixes the issue. Hopefully that will allow me to recover the deleted program as well.

Also, is there way to stop playing a recording? I've always been told not to pause the play back because it's hard on the drive seek to keep reading the same spot? So with my old tivo, I'd just hit the Tivo button and then power down the AV system to go on with my day. Now if I hit the Tivo button, the program is displayed in the corner and keeps playing. Any thoughts?

I think you might be thinking about a VCR :D
(I remember hearing that pausing for a long time was bad for the tape heads, or the moving parts inside the VCR...)

Those days are long gone. There's no such concern with "pause" on a digital device like a TiVo. The hard drive isn't "keeping reading the same spot." That's not how it works.

The only possible problem I can think about with pausing for a long time... would be if you leave the TV on and your TV is susceptible to image burn in...
