TiVo Not Recording Shows or Only Partials

Since the upgrade to 14.8.U2-01-3-746 I have been unable to record any show that I have manually set to record or set via Season Pass. About 1/2 of the shows will record between 2-10 minutes and the rest never even record. Needless to say my TiVo is no longer useful unless I want to watch live TV.

For example, last night I was recording and watching the MTV Movie Awards and paused the live playback 17 minutes in to finish this morning. My TiVo only recorded up to the moment I paused the playback even though I had it set to record the entire show. In addition the following show did not record and all shows recording over night as TiVo suggestions recorded less than 15 minutes.

I have tried forcing an update and rebooting my TiVo with the same results. I have not experienced the freezing of the remote behavior, which would be better than what I have now. My issues started when the new UI showed up which seems to be 14.8.X

I haven't seen anyone on the Forums with this issue, am I the only one?

You're not alone. I've been experiencing exactly the same problems.

I came to these forums today hoping to find a solution.
I been having a problem like that on my tivo hd. A season pass would stop recording shows. if i edit the season pass and save it. the season pass starts working again
I'm having the same problem. TiVo recorded only 50 minutes of a one hour show for which I have a season pass. On another occasion, it began to record a different show, stopped recording after 15 minutes and started recording again 6 minutes later. Does anyone know what's up with this? At no time did I try to watch either show while it was recording.

Reads like your Tivo is rebooting, for whatever reason. Power outages recently? If no transient power outages, look to hard drive issues, then power supply issues. Ususally hard drive is the culprit.

Could also be cable card/signal issues, or I guess any of the sometimes, as yet unknown reasons, why a few Premieres act up(restart, freeze, etc).

I'm OTA only. If my Premiere did that it would be because the tuner lost signal lock for the missing time segments, either because the signal went away completely or because there was enough RF interference to make it impossible to demodulate.

Edit: As for recording a different show, I have no idea unless it was a problem at the program source.

You could be right about the rebooting. On more than one occasion, I have turned on the TV, hit the Tivo button, and instead of going directly to Tivo Central, I get the THX screen, followed by the welcome cartoon. If I hit the Tivo button again, it does go directly to Tivo Central, so it's not a huge issue, just an annoyance.

Is the rebooting issue something I should contact Tivo about?

You probably should contact Tivo about your issues. Even though I suggested the reboots, people have been experiencing similar issues(and many other various issues) without rebooting suspected.

Again though, maybe you should run all this by Tivo, if only for the record.

Good luck.
