I am getting this error message:
TiVo Device Error Code
C133
Error Type
Network
TiVo Error Code Text

Cannot connect to the service. (C133)

"There is a temporary problem with the connection to the TiVo Service. Don't worry-we'll have things back to normal shortly. In the meantime, you can watch live TV, recordings, and on demand shows. For updates on this issue, visit tivo.com."
*****

I called Tivo, but they said it was my router, and they want to do a conference call between me, Tivo and TP-Link tomorrow. My router is fine. All my digital devices are connecting to the wifi just fine. My Smart TV connects to wi-fi and my ethernet cable just fine. In trying to find out why I can't connect, I clicked on various links on Tivo, and after trying to connect got the message that they couldn't find the DHCP server. I also got the message they there was no gateway to be found or some such language. I don't know what else to do. Any ideas?

Here is another weird thing. I can download programs and everything seem to be working until I use the search feature. That's when nothing pops up and it all seems to disconnect from the internet. I reboot and all is well unless I use search. So weird. Thanks for any ideas.

All these things you tried are fine, even the Tivo. Would need to know what model Tivo, now its connected, does it connect to Tivo service (the main point)

The C133 error is mainly from the Tivo servers and they may be down at the point when it tried to connect. See when it last tried to connect. It may have been the middle of the night when the servers go down for maintenance.

I have a Tivo Premier. I know, old!! But it works fine. I don't get into the inner workings of Tivo too often. How do I see when it last connected?

Also, if the Tivo server is down, I would have thought customer support would have checked for me. It seems it's not in the USA anymore. :(

Thanks.

You can find it in the Settings, network. Its also where you can manually force a Tivo Service connection.

I can't check right now because someone is using the TV. I went to Tivo online and saw this: Check Your DVR Network Connection
There is a problem communicating with your DVR. Please make sure your DVR is connected to your home network, then try again.

I will check the settings when I get a chance later tonight and tell you when it last connected. So frustrating! I checked my smart TV and the internet is connected to it via ethernet like I said. Not sure why Tivo isn't recognizing that. :(

Yes. I rebooted router. I rebooted Tivo. I went through the diagnostic test with Tivo on the phone. With the diagnostic test it said router ports need to be opened and gave a list of router ports. That's why Tivo is calling me back tomorrow and connecting with my TP Link router techs. I just hope it's not so complicated that I can't do any of it.

Nothing has changed with my router, so I don't understand why it's talking about opening router
ports. Hopefully, I will find out tomorrow.

Have you tried unplugging your Modem/Router?

Ok, I went to settings and it said:
Last attempt: 9/14 6:39 p.m.
Last success: 9/4 6.55 a.m.
I tried to connect again at 8:30 p.m. tonight and got the message: "No gateway found."
On same screen, at the bottom, Network Troubleshooting. Run Internet Connection. Where does it fail?

OK. I want to update everyone on what's happening. It's very confusing but good. I called Tivo back today because no one called me when they said they would. The CS rep had me take the ethernet cable out of my TV and put it into the Tivo itself. Makes sense, but it worked before by being in the ethernet adaptor I had attached to my Amazon Firestick. I think that adaptor went bad because the TV said I wan't connected to the internet and Tivo stopped connecting on 9/4/20. So I connected the Ethernet cable to my smart TV itself yesterday, and all was well except for Tivo not recognizing it.

Now that I have connected the ethernet directly to the Tivo it's downloading everything. The one thing I am worried about is that I had to take my powerline adaptor out of the Tivo ethernet port to put in the ethernet cable instead. I was using the powerline adaptors to download my shows, etc. But, it seems to be working without the powerline adaptors. Can anyone explain this to me? Why did I need a powerline in the first place?

When I first used the powerline adaptors I didn't use an ethernet cable. I counted on wi-fi. The powerline adaptors are instead of using the wireless N adaptor or any other device like that. So, what I am thinking is that by using the ethernet cable I don't even need the powerline adaptors. Am I right? I don't understand electronics very well, but this makes sense now if this is the case.

You never included these details in your original post(s).

Tivo needs to told whether its going to connect by wifi, or ethernet.

We can only guess at what things you might have done in the past to set up your home network, but it certainly sounds like you need to start over fresh with the help of someone who knows this stuff.

A powerline adapter is only needed it you have a location in your house where you cannot run an Ethernet cable. Clearly that is not needed at your current TiVo location; because, you just told us you have it connected now to wired Ethernet! If you need more than one wired Ethernet connection at the same location (such as for both the TV and the TiVo at the same time), just buy any cheap Ethernet switch with at least as many ports as you need.

As for the old powerline adapters, remove them all unless you need one of them to connect to some remote place in your house where you do not have any other option for a wired Ethernet connection. If you do need to keep using them, then make sure you understand how they need to be setup (you need two of them - one located some place where it can connect to your router by wire, and the other one in the remote location where you do not have an Ethernet wire).
