When starting to watch a recording, I often just get a black screen. You can fast forward/rewind/pause, but no audio or video. Going to the Guide and selecting a live show always works to get the audio/video going, and then you can go back to the recording to watch it. This happens frequently on multiple Mini's and is always after the Mini hasn't streamed anything in awhile. Any ideas on how to fix this?

This has been happening to me also.... very annoying....

Some bug. The temporary fix is listed on their support page. Basically just reboot the box and tune into a live tv channel right away (before you try to stream a recording). If the Mini gets rebooted somehow you have to repeat the steps.

Yikes, pretty stark once you stumble on the right page...

Some TiVo Mini users are experiencing a black screen when watching recordings. If this happens, you can stop the problem by rebooting your Mini and briefly tuning into a Live TV channel before watching a recording from the DVR. You will no longer see the black screen, but if for any reason the Mini is restarted, you will need to perform the same steps again to avoid the black screen. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience and are working urgently to resolve the issue. Thank you for choosing TiVo!

Unbelievable! They managed to mess up a device that worked perfectly!
to be fair, if it was perfect then there is only one way to go

:D

I was surprised to actually see a pop-up message about it on my Minis this morning.

My wife saw this message on one of our Minis for the first time yesterday. I wonder why they suggest re-booting first as the extra time for that will just make it more frustrating for people. Just going to Live TV has always worked for me.
