TiVo Lost Name - How To Resync?

1077 Views 8 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  20TIL6
Did a quick search but did not find a relevant post...

Unplugged and moved my S3 TiVo yesterday, and restarted without the USB wireless card plugged in. Noticed after restart that the S3 had lost its name.

Plugged the USB wireless back in, and let it sit overnight (it did do a network connection last night). Still has not recovered its name.

Manually forced a network connection, and confirmed that the name is still present on tivo.com, but still no name. TiVo server properties also indicate that the S3 is nameless.

Thoughts / suggestions?

Thanks.

Lots of threads about this. 8.1.7b broke this. Not a huge deal, since everything else works, and there's no MRV/TTG. But annoying nonetheless.

Actually, I think that update was specific to TiVo HD - my S3 is on 8.3.1.

My only actual concern is Unbox - my Unbox account set to download to my (now unnamed) S3 unit, and the S3 unit is still listed by its name at TiVo and at Unbox. Sure it won't really be an issue, but...

I rented two movies this weekend to my (now unnamed) TiVoHD, and they both downloaded fine.

Oops! Sorry, figured you were talking about a TivoHD (even though you clearly said S3).
My original S3 lost its name too. I didn't unplug or anything. I'm guessing Tivo is having some problems with their servers.

I rented a few movies as well and mine are named at Amazon although at Tivo they have names like dvr1234.
Add me to the party! My S3 is nameless after crashing today. (Oddly the S3 didn't reboot itself until I changed the TV's input to the S3, so the S3 did nothing for about five hours except blink 12:35.)

I noticed another oddity with the lack of a name. I can usually go into Safari (for Mac) and see the S3 under "Bonjour" services. The S3 is still listed -- as "_http" -- but selecting it no longer gives TiVo's red "the server is running" page; instead, Safari gives, "The Bonjour server '_http' is not available."

I've decided to view this all as evidence that TiVo is actively working on TiVo2go. :)
My TiVo HD lost its name after the last update, and one of my S3's has too, the other S3 still has its name. So who knows.

Never noticed the Bonjour connection. I do see the one S3 that still has its name listed under the Bonjour bookmark. Cool. Wonder just what that means?
