I was wondering if there was a market for an old TiVo HD TCD652160 with a broken power supply and a lifetime subscription. I would hate to throw it away. Thanks in advance for any responses.

How broken is the power supply? If it doesn't work, it could just need a recapping. Which can be done for about $20 and a half hour of time soldering.

The key is you want the TiVo to remain powered and calling into TiVo in case they run their upgrade specials which would let you transfer the lifetime service to a newer TiVo.

Even broken, it has value on eBay because of this - they'll get it, fix it up and run it just to get the transfer.

I had this model at one time and replaced the power supply with one bought on eBay. As I recall there were three different variants of this supply and you have to get the right one for your unit. I’m hazy about the differences, physical dimensions and connectors probably. Turned out my existing supply was not bad, so I sold it on eBay, and eventually sold the lifetime TiVo (with a 2 TB HDD upgrade) on eBay.

EDIT: I see Weaknees.com only offers one PS version for this model.

Thank you for the response. What price would be reasonable on ebay if I did not get it fixed?

I haven't opened it up to determine if it's just a bad capacitor. If I can only sell it once it's powered on and it's a simple soldering job then I might go that route. What would be a good price on ebay for a functioning series 3 with Lifetime?
