Tivo HD Price Break?

A couple days ago there was a lot of talk about the price of tivo HD at Amazon...$253 is the current price.

Is this what you were looking for? If so, there are several posts from 2 days ago talking about this (found via the search function). I can't link because I don't have enough posts under my belt...try searching.

Just trying to find the best price at a retail store thats all...Yeah its a new piece of hardware..trying get a feel if a pricebreak might be in store.Dont want to jump the gun too early( look at the folks who bought I-phones)

It's already down to ~$250 shipped on Amazon.com.

Im waiting for Tivo to offer TiVoHD Refurbs for $199.

It wouldn't be a wise marketing decision for Tivo to drop the price this soon after introduction, and this close to the holiday season.

I think your best option is to watch Amazon. They have the best price out of all the places that I've been watching. Free shipping too.

Worked for Apple...

Early adopters were ticked, everyone else hopped on the bandwagon and bought one.

$199 is the magic number here, especially because most cable companies offer the dvr for $6 (price of box rental) and $10/mo. Right now it takes 4 years before the TiVo HD pays for itself, and I doubt the box will even work then.

Still...to not have to use a SA or Motorolla box...

Back down to $249 at Amazon. I bought it last week for $259 but they refunded me $10 as it was within the 30 day period. By the way, I made the refund request at 4am West Coast time and was notified 10 minutes later. Not bad service.

I am going to say that we will get NEW Tivo HD at 199 by end of this christmas and 149 or 99 by end of 2008.

The only way for Tivo to survive is to expand its subscriber base. The only way to expand its subscriber base is to price the hardware low.

I agree, $199 is the magic number and they better do that before the holiday season or they lose a year and a year's profitability.
