I am curious how many people have both a comcast DVR/HD box to access OnDemand along with there TIVO HD?

My wife likes on demand for movie selection and access to past HBO/SHO material...

If you do have this any problems with just splitting the cable at the point of the boxes?

thanks

I have two TiVo HD units AND a Comcast DVR. I use a four-way splitter without any problems -- but this was after Comcast fixed a building-wide signal loss problem at the main box AND replaced my four-way splitter with one of theirs.

Generally speaking, no, but this assumes the incoming signal level is high enough, one uses good quality coaxial cable and connectors, the connectors are properly crimped onto the cables and properly tightened on the splitter, and the splitter is of good quality and properly designed to receive the entire band of interest. I recommend a 1GHz splitter from a reputable CATV manufacturer like RMS or Jerrold. Be aware also the signal level (both upstream and downstream) delivered to the back of the set drops by about 4DB at the highest frequencies and 3.5dB at the lowest frequencies every time one splits the signal. If your incoming signal level is marginal or you employ inferior or improperly installed cables or passive devices, it can cause problems. Use high quality components and take care to install them properly and you likely will have no problems.

I also have both boxes, and it works fine. It is the only split on the line. If there is a better route to source, give it to the TiVo, since it isn't as robust with regard to handling signal quality issues as the Comcast DVR is.

Return the Comcast box and use that money for NetFlix or Blockbust Online instead.

So do any others have both boxes TivoHD and a Comcast box -- or is everyone dropping the comcast box?
