Tivo HD OTA?

Does anyone here use a Tivo HD or Series 3 for OTA HD only? I've been researching and it seems the only options for a DVR for OTA HD programming is a Tivo, so i wanted to know if anyone is currently using this setup.

I used my Series3 for OTA-only for the first couple months I had it, with no problems whatsoever.
Welcome!

Both it and the S3 work like a champ for HD.
I don't mind Tivo, the problem is dont you need to hook the box up to a phone line or internet to make it work?

Yes, if you have a wireless network in your home, get the TiVo Wireless G USB Network Adapter when you purchase the TiVo (it may even come free). With the TiVo Wireless G USB Network Adapter you can also get other broadband functionality on TiVo like ordering movies through Amazon Unbox.

If you don't have a wireless network in your home, you'll need to hook it up through the phone line. If you don't have a phone line hookup near where the TiVo will be located, you can one of these: "Phonex Wireless Modem Jack" - The wireless modem jack gives you the freedom to put your TiVo anywhere you want by following a simple installation procedure.
Thanks again whats the major difference between a Tivo HD and Series3?

The major difference is cost. The TiVo HD also has a smaller (160GB) drive than the Series 3 (250GB). If you are upgrading the drive, that is of no consequence. Also, the Series 3 has the OLED display and premium Glo remote, while the TiVoHD has just a few LEDs on the front (and also the cablecard slots there), and comes with a classic peanut remote.

Rush out in a buying frenzy and get yourself the S3 with a $200 rebate. Then plug it-in to your network (or *phlbbt* phone line) to get Guide Data, and you will be in Tivo heaven.

I use it OTA and the one-connection-but-two-tuners feature is fantastic. Record two shows at the same time, or watch one/record another, skip back & forth between them, all in glorious HD.

Dunno about the Tivo HD, but the S3 is an amazing product, even for me who bought an S1 when Tivo first came into existence.
Thanks again guys guess i will be a tivo guy for now on!
I hope that the OP understands that while his programming is free OTA he still has to subscribe to the TiVo service for the box to work..
i understand i have to subscribe for tivo to work, I don't see a point in paying for cable or satellite when i only watch TV shows that i can get with my antenna.
People get satellite or cable because they cannot get or haven't tried hard enough to get antenna channels, or because they want the cable/premium programming not even available by antenna.

If all you are content watching is network stuff, and can get good antenna signal, then by all means get an OTA HD TiVo nd don't pay for TV service, just TiVo.
