Wow. Amazon is really trying to push these (for obvious reasons)

What isn't so obvious is whether Amazon is selling it or one of its affiliates.kmill14 said:Wow. Amazon is really trying to push these (for obvious reasons)
Depends if you want to actually receive all of the channels that you are paying for.rmassey said:Wow,at this price what's the point of using a CC DVR? I was happy to pay $259 in August (and still happy). Go forth consume.....
Now if Comcast could just rewrite their billing system so consumers don't have to make the obligatory call to remove all excessive charges, we'd be set.![]()
Amazon might want to push their Unbox product maybe.atlynch said:Pardon my ignorance, what is the obvious reason? Is Comcast rental tivo imminent?

I just looked up the price on Amazon and its $249 not $239, still a good price.rmassey said:Wow,at this price what's the point of using a CC DVR? I was happy to pay $259 in August (and still happy). Go forth consume.....

I guess it changes based on which company they are shipping from.lessd said:I just looked up the price on Amazon and its $249 not $239, still a good price.
Or maybe this is still occurringkmill14 said:I guess it changes based on which company they are shipping from.
In September 2000, Amazon.com outraged some customers when its own price discrimination was revealed. One buyer reportedly deleted the cookies on his computer that identified him as a regular Amazon customer. The result? He watched the price of a DVD offered to him for sale drop from $26.24 to $22.74.
I'm pretty sure that stopped shortly after the negative press and potential legal issues.shady said:Or maybe this is still occurring
Someone else already posted RE in another thread about the lifetime transfer and amazon purchase....yes.timckelley said:I got an email from TiVo just now, that through 11-8-2007, you can by TiVo HD for $299 + transfer lifetime for $199 from my series one.
Question, can I get the even cheaper HD from Amazon for $249 and still transfer my lifetime for $199? Effectively converting my series one LT to an HD LT for $448?
The fact that one person managed to convince a Customer Service Representative to bend the rules doesn't mean anyone else will be able to do so. The transfer offer requires you to purchase the TiVoHD from TiVo.com.rbreding said:Someone else already posted RE in another thread about the lifetime transfer and amazon purchase....yes.
True. But the old S3 lifetime offer also said you had to buy the TiVo from tivo.com, but TiVo kept allowing people who bought elsewhere to do the transfer anyway.JustAllie said:The fact that one person managed to convince a Customer Service Representative to bend the rules doesn't mean anyone else will be able to do so. You can try buying it at Amazon, but be prepared for the possibility of being disappointed when you ask for the transfer offer.
Actually, the previous offer was *vague* about having to buy it from tivo.com.MickeS said:True. But the old S3 lifetime offer also said you had to buy the TiVo from tivo.com, but TiVo kept allowing people who bought elsewhere to do the transfer anyway.
