Just had a strange thing happen to the 'new' TiVo HD...my wife said the harmony remote wasn't working and I said yea right...notorious wolf-crier...

so I went in and tried..nothing. The harmony was firing commands the tivo flashed as if it read it but did nothing. I just continued playing the news in HD. No command worked at all...no pause, change channel, tivo button nothing...

a nice reboot power off/on seems to be fine but strange...add that to the list of new version 9.1 problems?

Anyone seen this?

Yes. My S3 (648-, purchased early this year) exhibited the same problem this afternoon. Pressing any of the remote or the front panel buttons resulted in the "I can't do that right now" sound.

I restarted the unit by cycling power, and when it switched from the "...few more minutes" screen to the animation, my HD TV lost video, displaying only snow! Oops! Sound still worked, so I knew the remote and front panel buttons worked again. I talked to TIVO customer service about the video problem, and they recommended exchanging the unit! That even after I pointed out that I had video during the early stages of startup, getting snow only when TIVO switched from the static screen to the animation.

I had, obviously, connected the S3 to the TV using the HDMI output. I hooked up the component video out and got a 480i display. Since I could now see the menus, I cured the problem by asking TIVO to switch to 720i output, then back to 1080i output. Apparently switching output resolution caused the HDMI hardware to correctly reset, and the S3 is again working normally.

interesting...mine didn't give any sound and the news that i was watching was perfectly fine. It didn't give the familiar "boing" noise at all..just no response to any buttons. After my restart...all was fine the rest of the night...I think things are still glitchy (as a programmer I can use those technical terms). We shall see.

thanks
