Just bought a Tivo HD for the living room. We have a Humax drt400 in the bedroom (for the the wife to record and archive her soap operas). I'm waiting on my Cable company appt for my cable cards.

In the mean time, I am getting mixed answers on whether or I'll be able to take advantage of tivo's Multi-room viewing. Tivo Customer Service says yes, so long as they both have software versio 9.1 or higher, and that updated will be there by mid november. Humax Customer service says yes, as long as they are on the same account. But everything I've read says it's available for Tivo Series 2 or 3 only, and I'm faily certain the Humax DRT400 is a series 1.


Any help on this matter is greatly appreciated, and thank you in advance.

As of right now, Multiroom viewing (MRV) is not enabled for TivoHD.

All Humax Tivo's are Series 2 and have the capabilities of any other series 2 unit, as far as networking is concerned.

So, once the Tivo HDs get the MRV update I should be good to go? and that's coming like by Mid November?

I don't know if anyone is saying (yet) what exactly the mrv capabilities for the hi def units will be like, or exactly when they will be activated.

Announced for Nov so could be the 1st or 30th or anytime in between.

Both TiVos need the update, and could likely get it any time. The transfers part could be enabled after the fact.

When both get 9.1 (or likely 9.2 it seems), and transfers get enabled on thr HD units, you will be able to transfer unprotected SD (flagged copy freely) from the HD to the SD Tivo.
