I have a TiVo Premier that Everytime the power when out, all my recordings were erased. I replaced the hard drive with a 2TB and when the TiVo was unplugged, the same problem exists . My recordings are all gone. Why would this happen?

You need to run Clear & Delete Everything on the TiVo to "marry" the drive to the encryption chip on the motherboard.

Thanks for posting this. I have an XL4 that I bought on Ebay about 8 months ago. Sometimes it would lose all recordings, and they would even be missing from the"Recently Erased" group. It wasn't until yesterday that I realized it was related to a power outage. Upon discovering that, I did a quick search and found this thread. Problem solved!
