For whatever reason this guy doesn't want to take a check or MO with the understanding that he would not ship anything until it clears which is no risk on his half and even saves him about $15 in PayPal fees. Any way, all I have is check / mo and Paymate. Does anyone know where I can get a brand new elite for around the same price minus things like tax and what not and can pay with the options I'm limited to ?

I got a check once on a $700 E-Bay sale, I checked with the bank it was drawn on, Wells Fargo, who told me the account was good, being the suspicions type I called the Univ of CA that the check was from, got the payable dept. who told me the check was fake and that they got 6 to 7 a month like that, the bank can't tell it was fake because it is on real check stock and printed by machine so they cash the check, 20 some on days later it goes to the Univ and 15 to 20 days later the Univ informs the bank it's fake and the money is taken back from your bank (or the bank goes after you for the money), that can be a total time of 40 to 50 days, I don't know how one get out of that problem except by doing what I did. So I like PayPal, sold some 900 items and the few customers I had problems with E-Bay/PayPal made me whole, sometimes paying both the customer (giving him his money back) and letting me keep my money, may have to do with being a Top Rated Seller for E-Bay at the time.Most sellers would really love to get postal money orders... the main reason is that you don't get screwed over by buyers or by Paypal with that. Postal money orders you just take the PO and get cash for, no worries about THOSE being faked - it's the "off-brands" that you occasionally see faked. And even if there WERE a fake postal money order, it's not like you have to leave any info to cash one - the risk of loss is on the PO, not you.
As a seller, I'd take a check or other brand money order too, but I'd wait for it to fully clear the bank, which would involve letting them know to put a fraud alert on the payment to have extra verification processes happen. That's a pain in the rear - and wouldn't be worth my time for an inexpensive item.
For an expensive item, any seller worth his salt should be willing to accept any payment mechanism. Ebay doesn't keep you from accepting anything else - just won't let you mention other accepted payment mechanisms in the listing because they want to drive payments to Paypal.

Then they'll do things like freeze your funds or disable bank transfers. They're perfectly happy to charge fees, but perfectly unwilling to have any meaningful support for sellers that doesn't just involve "sorry, this is how it is."
No, I have not been victim to this yet - but I know people who have. I know small businesses that Paypal has singlehandedly put out of business, and i know several people who have lost many thousands of dollars. I even know one lady who was scammed - and then Paypal pursued her for $50,000 since she had already withdrawn the money. Fortunately for her, she was able to get legal counsel and get them to drop it - but not everyone is so lucky.
If you're doing something online, please please please please consider taking other payment alternatives than Paypal - if you're doing something with friends or family, or forum members, check out something like Dwolla. There's also Amazon Payments and Google Wallet, but those are less useful and more corporate. Whatever you take, try to think not just of your own convenience but also the overall implications - remember, there but for the grace of God...!

I would email the link to myself and then just click the link and load it there as its a "mobile" coupon. Usually the cashier just wants to see it on your phone or you might be able to print it out if you're lucky.
The other option is to stop by your local post office and ask for a "mover package" which includes coupons for your local area. Often this includes Bestbuy, home depot etc.

Not always. I used PayPal for a non-eBay purchase and PayPal refused to help when the product was defective and the seller wouldn't respond to e-mails.You're also covered by Buyer Protection in case the seller tries to screw you.
Much less than $460? I did a Google search and that one $460 on eBay was the cheapest I could find. If you know of a better price than $460 please point it out. I am in the market for an Elite.Nobody takes checks or money orders on ebay anymore, at least not any seller that has a lick of sense. The vast majority of transactions are done via PayPal.
FYI - if you do a google search you'll find the Elite selling for much less.
There must be some statue of limitations on a check that you deposited after which the bank can't take the money back from you, I know it is more than 1 and 1/2 months but surly it is less than 7 years. Charge cards are about 60 days.There is no such thing as a "cleared" check. The bank might make you wait before releasing the funds, but that is no guarantee that the check is "cleared". I've read about cases where the bank has bounced a check many months after it's been deposited.
