If you have been dealing with CableCARD problems like I have been, here is the direct number to the TiVo CableCARD support team:

1-866-986-8486

Remember, CableCARD problems (with the exception of a defective card) can ALWAYS be fixed over the phone. Having the TiVo CableCARD support guy on the phone when calling your cable company (TiVo will 3-way call for you!) is a huge help.

When you are stuck, just keep in mind that it's a matter of getting the right support tech who is willing to actually do the research and help you out. It took 15 calls for me to get my 2 CableCARDs to work, and after all that wasted time I found out that the problem since the start was just that Time-Warner "accidentally" removed my cable TV package when they dropped off the CableCARDs.

Good luck!

Maybe someone should add this to an FAQ or make it a sticky?
It should probably be a pop up anytime someone types the word cablecard in the same sentence with problem.

If this is working as well as several people have reported it is a great move on the part of Tivo. I just hope they are staffed for all the calls they'll get now.

This is an absolute necessity, and a great move on the part of tivo. In fact, they should put the number prominently on the "Instructions for Cable Card Installer" sheet.

Without this number, the consumer is totally at the mercy of the cable companies. And frankly, as consumers, we should not have to know anything about how tivo or cablecards work... let tivo fight the technical battles with the cableco, not us.

FYI this number is *not* a "dedicated cablecard support team." It is regular Tivo support.

All they did for me was suggest I call my cable company. They offered to do it with me on a three way call, but since I've called them myself 3 times trying to get the issue resolved, I didn't bother.

It was obvious the rep was not a higher-tier support rep that was equipped to handle my 0x02 issue.

Zaph,
I'd be willing to be that letting them do the 3 way call would solve your issue. Your cards need to be validated, which is done by someone at your Comcast NOC's dispatch. This should not require a truck roll. Having a Tivo tech support person on the line (in my experience at least) made Comcast much more responsive.

I was given the number by someone in TiVo tech support who indicated that it went through to the CableCARD-trained team; it was the people at this number who offered (and were more than happy to) do a 3-way call with me to my cable company.

YMMV obviously, and I don't really know if this number is any more special than any other but it worked for me; plus it is different than the number listed on TiVo's site. You might want to try dialing the regular TiVo support number below then dial 1 (tech support) and 1 again (CableCARD problems) I think (may be different numbers, I can't remember) and see if someone there can help you.

TiVo Customer Support
Live agent support available: Monday - Sunday
7:00 AM - 8:00 PM Pacific
Phone number: 877-367-8486

Again, sorry if this number didn't work for you, it is just what was given to me by a helpful guy at TiVo and he said it would get back to the tech guy who were trained on CableCARD.

I called the "cablecard" support number. On hold for 30 minutes, then I was disconnected. Called back, and after being on hold for 1 hour, the call gets routed to Geek Squad technical support. The person I spoke with didn't know what a cable card was and stated that they do not support Tivo.

I got to hear the same trivia facts repeated over and over though, so it wasn't a total waste of time.

Did you know "The Simpson's" was first shown on the Tracey Ulman show? Yes, I knew that.

Did you know that Tom Selleck was offered the part of Indiana Jones but had to turn it down because of commitments to Magnum, P.I.? Yes, I knew that too.
