Sounds like your new smart TV might be too smart for its own good.
Are you just connecting the Bolt over HDMI to an unused HDMI input on the TV?
Does your TV have a setting to turn off an "auto-detect HDMI feature" for that input?
TiVo Bolt OTA and Samsung TV
I just purchased a Samsung Q60T 55" TV. When I try to connect the Bolt directly to the TV, it doesn't recognize what it is. It's not a cable box or a gaming console, so the TV doesn't know what to make of it. How have people gotten around this?

I gave up for now. I have my Apple TV and Bolt plugged into the Caavo Control Center again and then have that going into the TV. The TV doesn't know what the Caavo is either, but I just didn't bother setting up the input.
