You could create a VPN tunnel between the two sites, as long as they were continuosly connected via broadband. I would look at some of the Linksys with Open WRT firmwares. Should be somewhat simple to set up if you are technically inclined. If you are planning to do MRV, TTG keep in mind that both Tivos must be under the same service account.
