BestBuy just reduced the price of the 1TB Bolt OTA TO $211.99. I cancelled my yearly and received a credit of $64.50. The new Bolt comes with a yearly of only $69 so basically I upgraded to a New 1TB hard Drive for Approx. $88 with now having a second remote.

What do you think?
Should I punt and order a new Edge OTA for $349 or keep what I just purchased. I do have a 14 day return policy with 5 more days to go.

I'd have gotten a used Roamio OTA with all-in.
If I get used or renewed, I never have luck with them. When my previous unit a Tivo OTA 500GB died, I called Tivo and believe the rep offered me a refurbished 1TB unit, I declined and asked for a refund of the yearly and just went out and bought a new 1TB OTA Bolt.

TiVo Bolt OTA = $212, $70 Annual, 1TB.
(About $280 if replace with reliable 2TB 2.5" drive)
TiVo Edge OTA = $350, Same $70 Annual, 2TB.

Since your service refund basically pays for the new year, that's a wash.

$350 - $280 = $70 more for Edge compared to an upgraded 2TB Bolt.
So it's up to you if it's worth the $70 more to get the latest TiVo:
LUX remote
Better cooling
introducing Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision HDR support.
ATSC 3.0 compatabilty?

If you pay the $250 for AIP (Lifetime), it'll pay for itself in a little over 3.5 years, based on the annual rate. After that, you have "free" service.

Make sure if you return the Bolt, you cancel the service for it before the (30 day?) deadline.

Thanks for your input. It really is an unknown at this point on the true differences if price is not the issue here. I like all the points you showed, but what about the benefits of keeping the 1TB Bolt over the Edge.

It really depends on your needs and wants. Arguments could be made for keeping a Roamio over moving to a Bolt, but as far as I know, a Bolt has nothing positive an Edge doesn't also have.

An Edge isn't a great leap over the Bolt except for the points I mentioned, and maybe a few others. There's also "future proofing" to consider. Since there's no customer usage history of the Edge, there's no way to know if it's more reliable than a Bolt. But since TiVo has Bolt experience to go by, I would say the Edge is more.

If you didn't already buy the Bolt, I would say spring for an Edge. Since you bought the Bolt, only you can decide if the few upgrades of an Edge are worth the trouble of a TiVo return and repurchase.
