I was searching for thread about the current temperature because I saw it recently and wanted to add a post. But it took a while to find because the thread title-only search apparently returns results in order by the thread creation date instead of by most recent post date, so it ended up as the very last item on the 3rd page of 4 pages of results searching for "temperature". Even ordering by "most relevant" only moved it up to the middle of the 3rd page.

This may have been why previously I've wondered about title searches not seeming to work well. One thought I'd originally has was maybe if a thread title had been renamed it wasn't indexed under the new name. But that was just something I was considering might be an influence for not being able to find something easily.

Is it possible to control this? Or at least add another sorting option of by most recent post date to the results?

Did you look at this - Search
Thanks; didn't see the thread... but I should note...

The option still isn't there on the "Everything" tab, or any of the others except for "Threads and Posts". It'd actually be better if somehow the search order could be adjusted on the pages of results from the search., like is often available via columnar indicators of the search order.

That link will take you down rabbit hole of similar threads but the tldr version is our search system is a 3rd party plugin that we have little control over but it's still leaps & bounds better than vB ever was or even default Xenforo.
