Time to dump Protection Plan?

Since I received an HR20-700 (leased) as a replacement for my HR10 (owned) that died, what good is the Protection plan?

I should also say that I prefer the HR10 to the extent that I replaced my HDD and power supply and put the HR10 back in service. The HR20 is back in the box.

If my 2nd HR10 dies, there is no way I want another HR20, I would repair it.

Seems like I should cancel the protection plan?

Well the only thing to consider is if the HR20 has issues (not unheard of) then with the protection plan the service call and the shipping costs would be covered.

Sounds like you need to get back in touch with the PP. If the Protection Plan replaced an owned piece of equipment then you likewise own the new equipment without any new programming committment.

Like any multi-armed beast, it is often difficult to get them to get things right the first time, but patience can put the problem straight. Just keep demanding from the CSR, their supervisor and their supervisor that they get your account correct.

;)
While I agree that I prefer the interface on the HR10-250, you still may want to try the HR20 when, and if :D , they ever get the new HD channels working on the new satellite.

The one big advantage of the Protection Plan is that they will re-align your dish at no extra charge.

I expect that many people will need to have their dish re-aligned in order to receive the new channels.
