Anyone else see it? I thought it was a decent reboot. Much too violent for kids though.

i've enjoyed it... i didnt realize tygra and lion-o are brothers...

and is panthro really dead?
In the original series, they weren't brothers. I think they are saving the real Panthro for later. He will probably show up with some technology. In the original series, he was the technology guy.
when and where is this on?

Cartoon Network and the next new episode is on at 8:30pm EST on Friday night.
I only saw bits and pieces of the original when my little brother watched it, so memory is fuzzy.

Liked what I saw, but I thought LionO was older in the original. And didn't more Thundarians survive? Like the older cleric guy?

In the original, Thunderra was their home planet, not a kingdom like in the new series. The Thundercats we know escaped as it was being destroyed. They were put into suspension chambers for the trip to Third Earth, but Lion-O's didn't work properly. So he aged from a child to a adult on the trip while everyone else stayed the same age.

Jaga, the old man, stayed out of the chambers to guide the ship to the new planet and died when they were almost there. But his spirit visited Lion-O often.
Ugh. I have to turn in my geek card; I didn't even know about this!
Is Snarf in this version? :D

IIRC, that's not quite true. Lion-O was told before the trip that, while the suspension chambers greatly reduce the rate of aging, they do get older (wasn't that the main reason Jaga chose not to go into suspension?), and Lion-O was by far the youngest, so his aging was the most obvious.

If that was the case, Wily-Kit and Wily-Kat, who were around the same age as Lion-O, would have aged as well.

The Thundercats Wiki seems to agree with my memory.

I missed this when it aired do to a cable outage, but caught it on demand. I though it was a good re-imagining of the series. On par with the newer He-man that came out a few years back.

As for some of the questions in the thread:

Snarf is in this version, but he's not Lion-O's nurse maid like in the original. He doesn't even talk, he just says "Snarf". He's basically a pet (he's kind of like a Pokemon :) ).

In the original Lion-O's chamber broke during the trip to Third Earth which is why he aged. He was originally the same age as Wiley Kit and Kat. Speaking of which, the same voice actor who played Lion-O in the original played his father in this version. I thought that was a nice throw back to the original. There were actually a few throw backs such as Cheetara's battle stance action sequence and Panthro's nunchucks.

This version is a lot more dark than the original, though now that I think back planetary destruction is pretty dark. The animation is definitely a lot better in this version, but all 80's animation was pretty bad.

I just saw the premiere that was recorded on my TiVo (HD, natch!) and I thought it had the potential to be a great series.

It should be noted that they're using Studio 4°C, which is one of the new generation of Japanese anime studios. And given the budget far above that of the average anime show in Japan, the resulting artwork is pretty spectacular.
Robear Berbils tonight
I found myself last week, wondering if the Berbils would be introduced in the new series. I'm either psychic or pathetic. :p

I wonder if all the Berbils will sound like Siri or Stephen Hawking? :D
