Last week a local thunderstorm blew my router, and since then I've had no LAN access to my TiVo, and the daily call over internet fails.
The link light is out both ends (cache card and replacement router), and when I had a quick scan of the logs through the backdoor code I spotted mention of an emergency cleardown of /var ? Does that sound like it's reverted the /var partition and lost the cachecard drivers?
The cachecard is working fine during boot so just no LAN access.

The cachecard drivers aren't in /var, and so shouldn't be affected.

Can anyone suggest what else I can check before I pull the drive? Pulling my PC apart is quite a trauma!

Check the settings on your router - bet it's IP address is different from what your TiVo thinks the gateway address is (your router's IP address = gateway IP address).

Of course, that implies you know what the previous router's IP address was.

The link light on the cache card and router are both out.

I've replaced the ethernet cable already, and the router.

All settings on my LAN are as before, and a scan of my local range shows the TiVo isn't there. I also know the IP address it had before because my Windows 2003 server has it as a reservation on the DHCP application.

I looked in the logs again and confirmed it's loading the turbonet2 driver 20050218, spots a MAC address and tells me "driver successfully installed" (twice), then says "IP struct was not filled in!".

Is this relevant?

I did try a laptop, but then realised I have no cross-over cables. My routers and switches have always been auto swapping.

Can someone please point me in the direction of the way to revert the TiVo to modem dialling? My TV guide runs out in about 7 days and if I don't find out why the link is down, I'm doomed by SWMBO.

Yeah pulled the foot and wiggled quite a bit. I'll wiggle some more but I've just ordered a serial cable to try to get to the bash prompt without the network first. Can't have my guide data going out of date!

I pulled the drive in the end. I realised I had a spare PC I could butcher to attach the TiVo drive. The SiliconDust bootable ISO was remarkably easy to use compared to the last time I installed them! I've reverted to dialup for now, and it was painful to watch!
