Hot on the heels of Channel Frederator yesterday, we've got three new channels for you to enjoy on TiVoCast starting today:

• Fast Lane Daily -- Daily car news! (See http://www.fastlanedaily.com for more info.)
• Pulp Secret -- Comic book network featuring "The Stack" -- comic book reviews and more. (Check out http://www.pulpsecret.com for stories.)
• Veracifier -- Home of TPMtv (Talking Points Memo), a political show featuring original ideas, reporting and commentary. (Learn more at http://www.veracifier.com.)

All three of these, plus yesterday's Channel Frederator, come to us thanks to the good people at Next New Networks. Now, while I don't like make promises, I have to say that there's more to come. So stay tuned!

To get these three new channels onto your TiVo DVR (or to get any of the other TiVoCast channels for that matter), you can either head to TiVo Central Online and then click on the TiVoCast link (which gets you the list of channels), or you can use your DVR and head to TiVo Central -> Find Programs -> Download TV & Movies, then select the shows you want to receive.

Note that the three new channels won't appear on TCO until later today. I'll edit this post when they're available. But you can get them on your DVR right now.

I hope they're better than what they had before. I decided to try the Tivocast programs a week or so ago and most of them weren't worth my time to watch them. There was one clip of two llamas humping at a farm with a bunch of girls giggling behind the camera. Now that's what I call entertainment! There were two tech shows that lasted about 1/2-hour apiece. One was halfway decent but the one with John C. Dvorak was extremely boring and glaringly amateurish. Not exactly what you would expect from a bunch of C-Net veterans. AQ couple of the other shows were short clips. I don't recall what they were but I think at least one of them was mildly amusing but otherwise forgettable (I already have). No doubt there will be a few occasional gems but for the most part, a complete waste of bandwidth. YMMV.

That is because the aren't apparently using professional production people, as ZD/Tech TV did. They are using sundry staff for production.
Not to mention a shoestring budget.

With all do respect to Tivo - TivoCAST content leaves a lot to be desired. Where is the DIY/Food Network/HDTV/ etc. content. Even if there was a charge for the content like Unbox. Adding two comic book TivoCAST at the same time is just plain wrong.

Suggest Tivo consider approaching some of the OneMedia Tivo Channels for fresh material that large segments of Tivo owners would enjoy. I don't know but TivoCast is great - just not living up to it's potential.

2) I still would like to have a "New TiVoCast" TiVoCast that would give you the first episode of any new TivoCast added, so that we can see if we want it, and also a way to find out new TiVoCasts without having to check the forums or the list of TiVoCasts every so often.
3) As more TiVoCasts are added, having them in one list will get cumbersome, I think soon they should be broken into categories somehow to make looking through a list more manageable.

I assume TiVo somehow keeps track of the number of viewers/subscribers, so I don't subscribe to stuff I don't like. If you don't like somehting, stop subscribing, and it should hopefully take care of itself.

I currently only subscribe to The Onion, CNET and NY Times.

Need TiVoCasts to match on normal wishlists (keyword, category, actor, etc.)
Next the first one on the box should simply be noted as TiVo Premiere so a wishlist could catch based on that.

I'm not seeing announcements of new TiVoCast channels on my TiVo main menu - only here. Why aren't they announced more prominently?

jayfest, we're working on the best way to announce new TiVoCast channels. We don't necessarily want to put an announcement on TiVo Central for each new channel, especially given how quickly new channels can be added.

For now, in addition to here, we are announcing new channels on TiVo.com, via the newsletter, and we're about to launch another method that I can't detail yet but I think people here will like and agree is effective. Stay tuned!

We don't necessarily want to put an announcement on TiVo Cenetral for each new channel, especially given how quickly new channels can be added.

I had to laugh, thinking of the nearly-daily PTCMs I've been getting about lineup changes -- mostly the addition of nonexistent "Local Programming" channels, followed by their removal a few days later. (And repeat...)

Both of these would be handled if TiVoCasts showed up in the normal channel list and were treated as normal channels for the purpose of searching, wishlists, etc. People have hundreds of channels and don't need folders to manage them...

This would have other benefits. For example, with the two-column TiVo-style guide as you scroll through the TiVoCast channels on the left you would see the episodes listed on the right. You could controll which TiVoCasts channels you see by marking them for display in the "channels I receive" and/or "all channels" list.

Agreed! The flag that shows up near the end of the thirty days after the Unbox Download should be enough to let a person know they better watch the flagged rental program. Break open the Unbox folder unless it has the same content like TV series or sequels.
