Premiered last night on HBO. Haven't watched it yet, wanted to get the thread started.

Anyone see it? Thoughts?

Based on the 2014 novel You Should Have Known by Jean Hanff Korelitz, the miniseries premiered on HBO on October 25, 2020. The series stars Nicole Kidman & Hugh Grant, is written and produced by David E. Kelley, and directed by Susanne Bier.

I watched it. Not in love with it, but I'll give it another episode at least. I get the feeling this could move into a less campy adult soap opera. But it could also move into a good murder mystery story. I'm not all that enamored with another story of rich Upper East Side pretentious New Yorkers, with first world problems, but this one could be interesting.

I was not really enthused for it but I ended up liking it a lot and being intrigued to see where it goes.
Same here. I wasn't really pumped for another Nicole Kidman same character mini-series again (although I did like Little Big Lies). But the hour went fast, and the story was pretty good for an E1.

Well it got interesting. Sure it's formulaic, but I liked it and I'll stick with it.
Agree. The acting is top-notch. Strong acting can overcome formulaic (usually). Even the kid is doing a good job, and I rarely like kids in dramas (still looking at you Homeland, ten years after).

I’m watching because I have pretty much watched everything else, but it seems like a 90 minute movie spread out over however many episodes. So much “atmosphere” and watching Kidman’s confused face.

And I get how brutal Hollywood is to older actresses, but Nicole Kidman has had so much work done that she looks bizarre. I never cared for Hugh Grant’s whole charm schtick and he’s looking rough around the edges too. But male actors can get parts years after they’re dead, like Donald Sutherland.

I am glad that she called the cops. That will hopefully move things on a bit faster.

This a major barrier for me for this show. I just cannot un-see that her face is ruined; distracts from that character for me.
Sadly, I feel the same way. In every scene where they show closeups of her face, it's all I can think about. It's like she has too much filler or something. The area around her mouth doesn't move at all, and it just looks so unnatural. It's a shame, because she is a really good actress.
