We binged this whole thing yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Can't say too much about the plot without giving things away, but essentially, a mysterious stranger approaches various seemingly unrelated people with devastating secrets.

One thing that bothered me when people were describing "the stranger" (spoilered, though not really a spoiler):
When a number of people described "the stranger" to the police, they mostly talked about her baseball cap and no one mentioned that she's mixed-race. From what we could see of the community, it seemed to be around 80-90% white, so mentioning her race would seem to be a natural thing to do...

Definitely not a spoiler.

I seem to remember the exact words 'mixed race' WERE used to describe her at one point.

I had seen it was based on a book by Harlan Coben, an author that I like, so I found it used at a local bookstore and knocked it out on a weekend and then watched the series. I enjoyed both. There are differences between the two and I read some articles why some of those were made, but overall the series stuck close enough to the original plot lines.

After watching the finale, a couple things didn't really make sense to me.

The whole basis for the plot:
So, as I understand it Bob (the coach) is convinced by Tripp (the neighbor) that Corrine is going to expose him for spending club money inappropriately, so Bob hires the stranger to blackmail Corrine. How does that help Tripp get away with embezzling money?

On Katz:
He is working for a rich client, who is being blackmailed by the stranger. He find another victim of the stranger, the bakery owner, and in the process of questioning her, murders her! Why?

I just finished this. I thought it started out really strong, but it went downhill as it went along. It wasn't bad overall, but the way everything tied together wasn't nearly as satisfying as I was hoping it would be. Overall, I'd probably give it about 2 1/2 stars out of 4.

I started watching Safe on Netflix, and wow.. so many similar elements to The Stranger. (I'm not going to go into detail, because this is the wrong thread.) I didn't realize until now that both shows have Harlan Coben's name on them. (He wrote the book The Stranger, and he's billed as the creator of Safe, though that one does not seem to be based on a book.)

I really wondering whether I should keep watching Safe, though, because the more I think about The Stranger, the more disappointed I am in it. There so many things about it that just made no sense, and there were story lines that they made seem important, which turned out to go nowhere.

Safe, The Five and this are all written by the same author and made by the same TV group. All are the same to me, entertaining but flawed in the details. If you think about these shows they do fall apart.

I did enjoy it though.

I really just thought the ending didn't make sense. The cop was supposed to have killed Tripp yet was already arrested at the time of death
