LOL - Tivo is alive and well and it looks like VM haven't thought about how to terminate it.....
I think one of Virgin Media's techies was most probably bribed by their marketing director to hack in to the Tivo systems in Alviso and send out all those misleading "We're Closing Down The Service On June 1st. Buy A Virgin Tivo Right Now Before We Kill Off Your Crappy Old S1 Tivo" type System Messages.

The Series 1 Tivo is clearly so tough that it just refuses to lie down and be killed off by some new upstart kid on the block (one that doesn't even have a proper Tivo slide startup screen or a Tivo Guy button). Or may be there are techies in Alviso who just don't agree with the sanity or ethics of what Mr Joshua Danovitz has signed up to with Virgin.

Four months was clearly considered long enough for Virgin to sign up all the suckers with plenty of cash before Tivo decided to do the right thing and belatedly listen to the feedback from all their loyal S1 customers who told them that Lifetime really does mean Lifetime.:up::up:

Ha! Wishful thinking. And yet, the guide data keeps coming

I think that all this really does prove is that Virgin clearly told Tivo to turn off the S1 service so that the Tivo brand in the UK would be exclusively theirs and so that they could flog a couple thousand more Virgin Tivos to S1 owners in their cabled areas.

If it had been Tivo's idea then I am sure they would have been ready to wield the axe on the day announced. The fact they haven't tends to suggest that no one at Tivo really supported the whole idea.
