Wow, after last weeks great episode this was a real letdown. A few chuckles but way below the usual great standards. Come on B.J., you had months off and this is the best you could do?

Well as a lady, I think it is a little creepy that Jim bought a ring a week after they started going out

But as a viewer, I think it is romantic :)

I like how the relationship is progressing. There's no reason they have to be frozen in time just so that people don't get upset about the relationship developing and changing. I'm sure there will be some monkey wrenches along the way. I feel for the tying shoelaces hook, line and sinker - totally thought it was going to happen then.

I thought the episode was good. I prefer the awkward humor of last week more than this week. Last week it was awkward relationship humor, but this week was awkward Michael being a complete ass and really mean humor. Still funny, just not my favorite moments of his.

And what is Creed's plan for the three chairs!?!? :D

I thought it was hilarious (once I got to watch it after having to download it - thanks NBC5 for the NON-STOP storm coverage Thursday night!)

I thought one of the funnier parts not mentioned here was when Michael was showing the girl Jan's picture, and he accidentally called her.

the american pie sequence was funny because they start off singing the song in light, and the song is so long, they're still singing in the dark.
That's interesting. I hadn't thought of that being the joke, that the song is so long.

I thought in the tag piece, they sounded totally drunk so I interpreted it to mean they had stayed there drinking (although they didn't bring bottles with them did they to the original daytime scene).

In the daytime scene, Michael was singing made up lyrics although in the tag scene, they were singing the real lyrics (or attempting too which was funny as people forget exact lyrics).

I originally thought they were going to Jan's new place (she moved out right?, it was Michael's townhouse.). That is the setup for the joke that they didn't go there as she wasn't really the "woman Michael needed closure on".

When I saw they were at a gravesite and it is not immediately evident whose grave it is, I thought it might be Michael's mother. In other seasons, there have been references to how Michael's damaged promiscuous single mom was mean to him. So I got a laugh out of it being the chair model. Did anyone notice that the chair model was born in 1966 (making her 42) which led me to think the catalog photo must have been pretty old.

Looks like there's two camps. Those who really like the awkward part and those who don't find that part as enjoyable/funny.

I liked this episode more than last week's.
The awkward parts of last weeks episode were hilarious. The awkward parts of this weeks episodes were somewhat amusing but the rest of this weeks episode was about as unfunny as an Office episode has been in a long long time..

Remember the kidnapped pizza boy ep? They talked about when they first knew they liked each other. Both first season (maybe first ep?) IIRC. We're now in the fourth, that's a good long time!

Now, had he bought the ring BEFORE they started dating, that would have been creepy.

Of one the "discomfort" elements in the original BBC series was the inappropriate attraction between Tim & Dawn. The NBC series began in the same manner but the writers apparently couldn't sustain it over the long term and IMO it's gone more conventional (toward shark-infested waters, IYKWIM). Of course the BBC only had to sustain the tension over a dozen episodes or so.

Yeah, I noticed that too and figured either it was an old photo or that wasn't really her in the photo once again showing how Michael's fantasies are totally out of control.

Oh, and I disagree with those critical of this ep; we thought it was just as funny as the dinner party (judging by our laugh out loud moments)...just in different ways.

She dies in 2003, making the picture at least 5 years old. Old catalogue or are they photoshopping stock pictures of sitting models onto new chairs?

Rewatched this last night - one line that cracked me up that I forgot about - in his search for the model, Dwight said:

"I found the photographer, a Spaniard"

I don't know why, but I thought that was funny.

What I really missed was how serious Dwight takes Michael's orders. Just the looks on his face and how he tries to carry out the ridiculous orders are comedy gold.

For those of you (like me and others) who missed the last minute or so (since NBC's clock seemed to be off), it's worth suffering through the commercials to view the last minute of the episode on NBC's Web site.

I record Scrubs that's right after Office and that recording always ends up capturing the last bit of The Office....however in this case the graveyard ending was IMO not remotely amusing/funny and not worth chasing down if you haven't seen it.

No, I don't know what you mean. It would jump the shark if they broke up and then pined for each other. It wouldn't if they get engaged, get married, are happy, and continue to play off each other in such a great way. There's plenty of other characters that can have relationship drama of the week.

My favorite part was Andy doing the robot as the construction worker left.
