Not a lot of traction on the weekly threads, so let's switch to a Season Thread.

I thought this week (S3) was a phenomenally good episode. I'm still not sure how all the parts fit together, in fact I may be even more confused about the working relationships between several of the main characters. But it's an enthralling story, well acted and well written, and one I am enjoying each week.

I really hope this isn't the end of the Mary Brighton character. She was so interesting to follow. But I don't see how there's any hope for her.

Seeing all those newly discovered (to us) Touched at the end was a truly moving scene.

I was thinking of suggesting a season thread!

As I told my friend who is considering giving up, This show is weird and confusing as crap. Yet the fact that the hour goes by so fast that I’m always surprised when the credits roll, tells me I’m fully engaged. I’m keeping it.

All those touched in the books are the ones being experimented on. So Amelia is getting aid from Lavinia Bidlow in trying to save them before they get taken by the weird animatronic human-ish dudes, who are working for the mad experimenter, who in turn is working for Lavinia. My question is, why do they only take some of the touched? Why does Lavinia bother helping Amelia at all?

Was really bummed to see Mary get blasted. I guess in order for her "joy" song to work, the magic has to reach out to the person first. So the guy with the machine gun arm was too far away from her for it to hit him or he may have not gone through with it, especially since it didn't seem like he was in with the bad guys by absolute choice? Is that the consensus?

I'm interested in what changed the fire girl's mind to come seek out Amelia. Guess Mary doesn't have to worry about turning a corner to see her now. ;)

Oh and do we really believe those were rabid dogs in the basement/tunnel of Lord Massen's house? Seems sketchy they showed the graves of his wife and daughter soon before that. Pretty sure that means they are touched and he's got them locked down there and that's why he's on this mission to extinguish them all.

Okay I'm done. That's about all I have grasped.

One-stop shopping?

Same as the rest of the people she was with, I assume...she heard the song.
I think Fox is going to buy it out just for the pleasure of mixing up the sequence of episodes and then cancelling it.
That was the plan, but then Whedon quit, and what would be the point if not to mess with Whedon? :D

I read your mind! :)

Oddly, her name is spelled Amalia. Closed captions for the win!

This concludes today's spelling lesson. Next up, how to identify the pedantic in the crowd...
I actually knew that! When I was discussing the show with my friend I know I said Amalia. I think I typed it incorrectly in the other threads too, though. My fingers aren't in sync with my brain.

Um...yes to all this!

one disagreement: the machine gun guy was absolutely in range to hear Mary...I don't understand why he wasn't affected...

I also need to know (need, not want!) what they're digging for with the lobotomized touched!

Are we sure machine gun guy is touched? Is that his turn, or is it just a device?

I vaguely recall the doc (played spot-on by Denis O'Hare, in another role just made for him) saying something about, as he was beginning a slice & dice session, finding out what makes them Touched.

He's definitely touched. When he was sitting, the holes in his arm were dripping and the drips were metal when they hit the floor. The gun itself is a device but the bullets are all him.

So I'm going crazy watching a show called Intergalactic because one of the actresses looks so darn familiar...I finally realized that it's the same actress playing Mary. The role is so different that it took me forever to make the link.

Eleanor Tomlinson is her name.

Yeah. Sure. Blame it on Intergalactic.

Let's go with that.

Actually, IMDB doesn't list her in the cast. I had to watch until her name was mentioned then searched for the character's name...

so, for once, the fault didn't lie with me!

I know, I know...a broken clock and all that...

Not sure where she's from, but "it's not my face" now makes more sense.

Having Myrtle able to understand Mary was a genius touch. Obvious in hindsight.

Do we know what Maladie's turn is?

This has rapidly become my favorite show currently airing.
