Growing up in the 90's the Mighty Ducks movies were huge and I still consider them among the best movies of all time.

The franchise has been rebooted with a new television series on Disney+

The first 4 episodes are available now and new episodes drop weekly.

Basically, the series is about kids just wanting to play hockey for fun getting cut from The Ducks. The Ducks today is a team where the parents spend huge money on training camps, person trainers, child sports pediatrics people hired by their parents. Basically, it's like an elite olympic bootcamp for hockey.

The kids cut go out and make their own team. And they are the true underdogs like in the first Mighty Ducks movie.

And yes, Coach Gordon Bombay is back.

It's formulaic and in a lot of ways it's just the original story told slightly different, but I'm enjoying it. I like precocious kid stories, and well it has Lauren Graham who's good in most everything she does. The original Mighty Ducks was just Bad News Bears on skates. This is kind of like when they did a remake of Bad News Bears with Billy Bob Thorton. Same story, done a bit differently and updated for 2020+ sensibilities (lot's of diversity and inclusion).

My spoiler tag is missing.

Meant to say that Bombay is falling for Alex.
The two things that were most expected:

1) Bombay falling for Alex
2) He winds up coaching the team (either as head coach or full on assisting Alex)

I'd say a third would be that the team either beats or almost beats the Ducks by the end of the season.

We are liking it. Yes, its predictable. It should be. This is light hearted, feel good programming. It doesn't need to imitate real life. Just in the last year we've had enough "real life" to choke an elephant. The girl should get the guy. The underdogs should beat the dominating team of all stars. The scruffy old coach should come out of retire-quit to help coach the team and the original cast should come back to help with nostalgia. My only disappointment so far is that Joshua Jackson chose not to come back.

I agree, despite it essentially being a retread of the first movie (and other similar movies like it...Bad News Bears for example), I'm enjoying it. It's not must watch TV, but it kills a half hour an generally makes me smile.
