For those who have not watched this yet, I think S4 might be the best season of all of them. Not quite done with S4 yet, so I don't know how the season ends yet, but the politics played this season make it really interesting.

Such an incredibly good show, a shame it doesn't get more recognition. Every episode is exciting and has something going on and the stakes seem real. There's no boring B plot. Just really good.
And unlike many series, it gets better and better. As I said, this season was the best season so far.

Great show. I watched the first season when it first came out and then completely forgot about checking back for subsequent seasons. My brother-in-law turned me back onto it and I binged the last three seasons over the shutdown. Glad to hear they're coming out with season 5. No word as to when that will happen yet, but I'm not holding my breath. COVID-19 has allowed a lot of us to get caught up on shows we've been wanting to watch but it's also halted production on many new shows too. With the huge cast ensembles in this show I'd be surprised if it happens in 2020 as long as the outbreaks keep increasing the way they have.

I got caught up with this series this weekend. Season 4 was my least favorite season. I'll spoilerize my complaints:
I thought it was predictable. I know nothing about the actual historical figures but I knew Uhtred was going to abdicate the Mercian crown to Aethelflaed.
Brida was basically a sidekick for three seasons and now all of a sudden she's practically a warlord out of the blue. She's murdered many innocents but she then whines about being mistreated. Go away.
The sheer stupidity of some people just to move the story. Heston hangs Uhtred and the boys upside down to give them a slow death and then rides away? Just kill them! And why did the Welsh(?) king even keep Brida as a prisoner instead of killing her? That was stupid.
The only Dane with a brain was Sigtryggr. The Danes were basically the Borg. They just killed everybody who wasn't a Dane but never seemed to do anything productive with the lands they conquered.
But overall, I liked it and will definitely watch season 5. Do the episodes of this series all drop at once or do they appear weekly? Hopefully, all at once.
