now a OTA tuner specific to New Zealand broadcaster. Many questions unanswered as well - can you record while playing a game? Is a 1000$ (in New Zealand) OTA HD tuner all that exciting?

It really is a pain how the US so often chooses to go its own way rather than working wth the rest of the world on common standards. Most of the world uses DVB-T, including NZ. As ZeoTiVo pointed out, the hardware being developed for Australia (I bet it is based on the TiVo HD platform) will be usable in most of the world because of the common DVB spec.
Actually yes, I can. Quite readily. They've certified PCs, which are *FAR* more open than the PS3. I could see Sony developing an OCUR for the PS3 to support CableCARD without any problems. I just don't know that it is economically viable to do so. The process isn't cheap, and it is a limited market - only the US. And only PS3 owners who also what to use them as DVRs. A tuner product makes more sense in many European markets 1) where most of the population uses OTA for TV, and 2) which don't yet have OTA HDTV and won't anytime soon.

I agree. I have a PS3 and I would use it for IPTV or HD movie downloads. I would not use it as a DVR.
