Cleaning out the back room, I found my many many year old TiVo Premiere. I don't know what the feet on this thing were made of, but they crumbled into gooey pieces that slimed my fingers when I picked it up . Fortunately they can be pulled complete off with a pair of pliers, so at least all the gooey bits are in the trash now. If I get bored some day I may try plugging it in and see what happens.

Yeah, that tends to happen to weird plastic rubber stuff. Same thing happened over the years to my tivo wireless adapter when it sat on top of an HD for some time.

This is a well know problem with the Series 3 648. I had not heard of it happening to S4's, but it makes sense. If you want to use the DVR and have it looking like new, as stated in the previous post, WeaKnees sells replacement feet although a bit pricy, but it may be worth it to some because the feet they sell are very much like the original and will make your TiVo look like the day you first got it. Of course, You could get your own cheap feet at someplace and put those on no matter how they might look: pretty good or highly noticable.

You could even just get a set of coasters (for like chairs, pack of 4) for something like a buck or two and place the box on those at the four corners to allow air UNDER the DVR, but the DVR would not be resting secure on the coasters, so that really cheap solution is best with the TiVo in a place where it will not be disturbed or knocked around. I bet I could 3d print replacements, but the trick would be getting the springiness of the rivets just right .

I pulled my Premiere 320GB out of storage, and the feet are all disintegrated (not particularly sticky as OP described). I knew it was happening because there were shards of plastic every time I moved it. Now all 4 look like this, just the rivet and hub https://photos.app.goo.gl/SXMVrZDZnMkv4jP78

I considered the ones from Weaknees but they're doubly pricy with shipping to Canada, and I don't know that I need the tidy look.

What about self-adhesive felt, nylon, or Teflon (I assume it's Teflon, blue slidy stuff) glides? I have all 3 I think, and I know Dollar Tree sells felt ones. https://www.dollartree.com/tool-bench-felt-protectors/243661

Of course I wouldn't put in the recessed area of the original feet, I'd put on the higher area closest I can get to each corner.

Is there any reason this would be a bad idea, e.g. the adhesive? And would it matter whether felt our Teflon? It seems a lot easier especially if I have them already, rather than ordering feet.
