Mr President is so giddy that he has most of the sleepers in one place that he f's around for so long that they have a chance to react. Bravo to Sophia for picking the Washington Monument. ROFL

I thought the President was a good actor, but these last few weeks where he's been trying to cowboy up have been wretched. Such stupid decisions and everyone around him just stares at him in disbelief when he says all the stupid stuff.

Again, the BS meter was cranked up to 11, but they're doing a good job of drawing this to a conclusion. I reallllly enjoyed Sophia's "No, YOU listen to ME."

Simon is finally exposed... I'm just amazed they didn't figure it out sooner, but that's TV.

Ok, did I miss some "slight of hand" trick? Did they just kill off 2/3rds of the ET's?
This show has practically no likable characters left. I dont just mean those that aren't annoying, I mean almost everyone has blood on their hands now. All we have left is the pilot, his daughter and her fiancee.

Yep! At least that's what they showed. :)

Yes, but you'll notice that aside from Thomas and his psycho girlfriend, all the IMPORTANT ones were on the bus that survived. So it's kind of like Marvel Comics' "No More Mutants"--in a flash 16 million mutants were depowered, leaving only a couple hundred, but the couple hundred included nearly everybody who had ever been an X-Man. ;)
That Apache could have downed all three buses in 10 seconds or less. I'm just glad that Thomas' annoying girlfriend is gone.

Its funny how quickly Sofia forgave Thomas even knowing that he murdered some of her loyalists.

But that wasn't this week. The only thing that counts is what's happening right now.

Otherwise they'd have to keep track of stuff, and that's too much like work!
Wow, just wow. Great episode; it reminded me why I loved "24" so much. Too bad a lot of viewers jumped ship when the show went into hiatus.

I have no love for Thomas, so it's no big deal that he is now toast. And it's about time that the Prez showed some cojones; too bad it backfired on him!

In one of the episodes that aired in the fall, there was a scene in a large auditorium with a bunch of Sophia's followers. There had to be much more of them then the 200 we saw in the church.

I was thinking that too.

Any theories on what Dempsey is? Some sort of god? Being they made a point to show us his tattoo matched the one on the large figure on the cave wall.

And Vicky is still a badass :D

He seems to be immortal. My guess is the Visitors have been here before, and he was part of the Resistance. Not sure if he's human (altered), or another alien/another kind of alien.

Maybe the aliens came here a REALLY long time ago, created the human race (hence the genetic similarity), and one group stayed with the humans, the other went back home. The stay-behinds don't like whatever the go-homers have in mind for humans/the Earth, and founded a secret society to fight the go-homers if they ever returned. Or something.

One thing is he is definitely REALLY old. When the archeologist mentioned the age of the items, he mumbled "they're much older than that"

YES!!

Also, when Sean and Vicky were running away from the VP's Secret Service agents I was wondering why the agents didn't shoot at them. I believe that none of them fired a single shot!! While certainly there could have been a problem in not hitting bystanders but there were several times that they were running down alleyways with minimal or no bystanders. Certainly when they drove off in that stolen van the agents could have shot at them. And I was amazed that the agents did absolutely nothing other than run after them. DUMB!!!

You've watched too much TV.

Firing a weapon is always the last resort of any law enforcement officer unless they themselves are under fire. Once a bullet is fired, it can go quite a long way if it doesn't hit its target. You don't want that kind of collateral damage on your hands (or conscience if you hit someone unintended).
Anyone notice that the president had no problem with killing the bus drivers?

You are absolutely right!! But this IS television and we all have come to expect some gun fire and I just found it surprising that agents on a TV show would not fire any of their guns even once!!

Gerry
I noticed that about the bus drivers also. Hmmm, if I was writing this, I would have had the Sleepers looking for three who had the right sort of drivers licenses.

I thought about that too but there was one scene where one of the drivers called out the name of one of the leaders (Thomas, I think) to tell him that the helicoptor was near. At that point I realized that all of the drivers WERE part of Sophia's group.

Gerry
My inner voice spent the first 15 minutes or so yelling "Blow those mf'ers up now! Now!".

Who was piloting that Apache helicopter, Stevie Wonder? Geez, all three of those buses should have been smoking embers within 30 seconds. Kinda reminded me of the Star Trek Nemisis movie where the bad guy's super weapon array took the last third of the movie to deploy.

When the first bus got blowed up, I wondered why the other buses didn't pull to the side of the road, open the doors and let the people scatter away.

At least they sorta answered my question as to why Vicky hasn't chopped off one of Sean's fingers, toes and ears every ten minutes until he disables his "virus". She has her own agenda.

Every time one of the aliens says "my people" or "our people" I have Teyla from SG:Atlantis flashbacks.

I can deal with aliens, portals, ancient vampire old guys etc... but Sean being Jack Bauer-lite drives me nuts.
I just finished watching this episode. Mind-numbingly stupid.

What most Hollywood types don't understand is that you cannot ignore the interior logic just because, superficially, the ideas are fantastic. In fact, the more fantastic the theme, the more realistically it should be handled. Otherwise, you lose writing discipline and the audience along with it.

There are things that help you get away with it, like a charismatic cast or masking the lapses in logic via smoke and mirrors. But it is just bad and lazy writing not to tighten up things so that action follows motivation, devices used in earlier episodes don't have their capabilities magically modified for the convenience of generating plot tension, and characters who are suppose to be smart, act smartly within the context of the show.
