I've always had a soft spot for this show, from the original tv version with Edward Woodward to the Denzel interpretations and now with this new Queen Latifah version. While it may take a bit of imagination to believe Queen Latifah in the action scenes, I think the show pulled it off well enough for me to be focused on it. I've always liked her as an actor and she didn't disappoint. It was only the pilot episode but I like how the show was presented along with the supporting cast members. Appending it after the Super Bowl Game probably didn't help viewers find it. I ended up recording it but extending it by an hour to allow for its delayed starting time.

Girl says "I talk to my mom everyday and I have a scholarship interview". I wonder which of these things she's going to try to do that will result in her getting caught. Girl has people trying to kill her and she's wanted for murder. She's worried about an interview??

I was hooked on the original series. Funny aside: I still kind of think of Lori Loughlin as the Equalizer's son(William Zabka/Johnny Lawrence)'s girlfriend, though that was only like 2 episodes

New series: Overall, I liked it. I'm kind of easy with action-ish procedurals.
Queen is doing well in the role. I mostly know of her from move musicals, so I wasn't sure going in, but it works for me.

Some things I wasn't crazy about were the batcave and the computer expert. Nothing against the actor, but I get tired of the "computer security is
magic" trope. Like why set up a technological threat if that's not in the main character's wheelhouse? Instead, they end up going to their computer buddy, who just waves their hand over their magic keyboard and all electronic devices are on their side. Just focus on extortion rackets like the original and the movie reboot...
I'm also a little worried that it's too much of a team thing (like the Macgyver reboot), where the original and the movie(first one anyway) had the loner protagonist with a recurring support team.

But the tone feels good. I'm in.

Came in late but loved the first episode — especially the cast. No matter how gray Noth turns, he is still super fine.

I’m old enough to remember the original series fondly and loved both recent films — more the first than the 2nd.

Queen is perfect, IMO, because as in the other installments, the Equalizer never came across as a superhero on the surface.

Tomatometer critics seem to like it as much as I do.

I watched the original, and the movies, but the movies were missing something for me. but i can't put my finger on it. Maybe because it's too much like so many other movies out there. Don't know.

But I'm enjoying this version. Even if it's somewhat trope ridden and predictable. I love her sniper GF.

I watched the premiere episode, liked it but then let the next nine episodes back up on the tivo and basically forgot about it for six months as it sunk lower and lower on the Now Playing list. I decided to start watching again after seeing commercials for the upcoming season 2. I binged the remaining nine season 1 episodes between Friday night and this morning. I really like this show. Yeah, it's a bit of a stretch of the imagination to buy into Queen Latifah as a badass vigilante but she's not beating up 37 bad guys per episode, usually just one and it's edited well enough to almost, kinda be plausible. But the think I like best is the family dynamics between McCall, Aunt Vi and Dee and the cooperative adversarial relationship with Detective Dante. I like the fact that the first season was only 10 episodes so all of the episodes had meaning and weren't half filler episodes like a season of 20+ episodes would have been. The first episode of season two recorded last night. I have Paramount+ so there's a 50-50 chance I'll watch it there. What I found odd was that season 1 isn't on Paramount+ so there's no way currently for any possible new viewers to go back and watch from the beginning except by way of paying for it on Amazon Prime.
