The best TiVo suggestion you've ever gotten

Since I'm asking this, I really should answer it. I'm not 100% sure, but I think it was RUN'S HOUSE. That was a terrific show about a rapper. Since I'm not a rap fan, it wouldn't have occurred to me to watch it, but TiVo knew I loved reality TV so it was suggested.

What are some other success stories?

My suggestions are disabled.

I can't take the pressure of a Tivo telling me what to watch :D
Ditto jennifer + not enough time.

Perhaps in the future...
None of your poll choices seem right to me.

I have suggestions turned on, but end up deleting about 80% unwatched.

I don't understand why people think TiVo is TELLING them what to watch!

The TiVo is buffering and recording 24/7...why not allow it to make a "SUGGESTION"...who cares if you watch it or not! If it is going to be recording something...it might as well give you the OPPORTUNITY to watch it later.

My storage is so small that my SPs and the other stuff that I record take up most of the space. If one had unlimited space, I would go for your theory and probably have suggestions on a lot. No need to SHOUT about it, though. ;)
I've turned suggestions off but not because I didn't want TiVo to tell me what to watch! With no suggestions being recorded I have maximum space for Recently deleted files which serve as a gauge of remaining space and let me go back pretty far and undelete something the wife wants to rewatch, etc.

Undelete? Enlighten me...do all models do this?

Go into your recently deleted folder, select a show, and you will get the options to recover the show ( restore it to the now playing list ) or permanently delete it.
The first couple of years I had TiVo the suggestions were a little unnerving how good they were. It got to the point that if I forgot to record something I didn't worry about it too much because a suggestion would probably catch it.

Unfortunately today the suggestions are not quite as spot on, this is probably from the fact that I now have about 15 channels instead of 500, so there is only so much gold that Tivo can find that I'm not already recording.
Interesting. I just added up the percentages in the poll and got 140%
I don't recall. I know there were probably some series and movies.

Not a suggestion, but when I first got TiVo and was working out the setup bugs, and error in channel changing recorded a program on the Prelinger archives, which I am a fan of.
I use tivo suggestions partly as a soft season pass. There are some shows I like to watch but don't really care to watch them all the time. I give those shows one or two thumbs up. That way, tivo usually has a couple of those shows recorded as suggestions.
Tivo Suggestions Disabled.

When I did have it enabled, not a single choice was of any interest to me at all.

So, disabled it. Really I have no need for it at all.

I control my Tivo and TV watching. Tivo does not control me :D

That's because you are allowed to choose multiple options.
I turned it off, when it started changing the channel while I was watching Football, or Golf. Im not allways at the TV, but knowing I can go back and rewind was cool,,, Untill I go back to TV and "Happy Days' is recording.
I turned it off only because it would fill up my Tivo otherwise. If I had unlimited space I would leave it on as the Tivo does have a few good suggestions in fact my Tivo has suggested several programs I would never have found let alone watched otherwise. Sometimes it I think it knows me and my tastes a little better than I do.

Can not find a recently deleted folder. I feel like I know the menus fairly well and I have never known of a recently deleted folder. :( is my TiVo too old perhaps, or am I just not finding it? Thanks, though, for your answer :)
"Recently Deleted" should be at the very bottom of your "Now Playing" list, under Suggestions, but above other TiVos, if you have multiple DVRs connected. I see it even when I have 0 items in there.
Missed "Reaper" series pilot on CW, both nights. I didn't know about it until was too late, was disappointed, until I found on Fri morning that Tivo Suggestions had caught it for me.
